Stadium sits on sixth burner From the Seats, January 20, 2005 MINNEAPOLIS - It came from Tim Pawlenty’s chief of staff Dan McElory “If it’s a four-burner range, this issue isn't on there. If it’s six burners, this might be on the back ones.” So with the Governor not giving his full support how can we get one? Well in Pawlenty’s defense he does seem to be interested in fixing some other problems, such as education funding, health care and transportation issues. Blois Olson, the Democrat coeditor of MNPolitics.com said “The best chance of a stadium getting done is if its part of other big issues getting done. But Pawlenty is vulnerable in 2006 if nothing gets done again, including a stadium.” Whoa, wait a minute there. How in the world can Pawlenty get all the blame for things not getting done? These are big boys and girls that have been elected, last year they sat down and argued and did one thing. They all agreed that you can kill Morning Doves. Thanks God for them, that’s exactly what they needed to do. Now Pawlenty could have called for a special session, but that cost more money, money that could go to a stadium. Whether you support the governor or not I don't see how all the blame can go to him for the legislature sitting there with their thumbs up their butts not knowing what's going on. If things start to happen and some of the key issues start to get looked at/taken care of than the governor might be more willing to push the stadium, which it might need. Arne Carlson had to do it for to Excel Energy Center to be built, which was passed in a special session. The time has come folks, figure it out. Figure it all out, funding, location, all the detail, figure it out. Do your job, get some things passed and get a stadium built. If we have a repeat of last year not a single one deserves to be in office. Get to work! http://www.startribune.com/stories/587/5191259.html |
