Looking at the schedule for May, June; Twins sign J.C. and Munson From the Seats, January 17, 2005 MINNEAPOLIS - The Twins will face the Tribe in their first full series in May and than to Tampa. The combination of the two could make for a tuff start to May, the Tribe, again could be a challenging team and the Rays always seem to prove to be tuff against the Twins. The Twins wrap up the road trip in Baltimore, where again in the past they have had trouble winning at Camden and have had problems beating the O’s. The Twins will come home to face the Rangers and Blue Jays. The Twins seems to handle the Rangers pretty well at the Dome along with the Blue Jays, it will also be Koskies first visit in the Dome since signing with the Jays. Interleague gets started in May, earlier than in the past, with the Brewers. Again the Twins will be tested as the Brewers have always made the boarder battle rival interesting. The Twins than will head to the Jake for 4, how the other games against the Tribe will depending on how important this series is. It could be a very big one between the two as they don't see each other much later on in the season. The Twins will than go to Toronto and wrap up the month hosting the Tribe again. After starting June hosting the Tribe the dreaded Yankees will make a weekend appearance before interleague starts. The Twins start interleague with the Diamondbacks again, this time with some goofy start times, all three games at 8:40 pm CDT. A weekend series in LA against the Dodgers makes for some more goofy start times, such as 9:40 on Friday the 10th. Makes for a late night here in the Cities. San Francisco will make an appearance in the middle of the week. The Twins nearly swept the Giants two years ago when they played them at what is now SBC. Get your tickets early for this series, Barry Bonds will be sure to draw the fans in, it wont matter if they like him or not, they will show up. Doesn’t look like we will see a Jason Schmidt vs. Johan Santana match up, as Johan will pitch against the Padres who will be in town for the weekend to wrap up interleague, for the most part. The Twins host the Tigers before going to Milwaukee, a place the Twins seem to have trouble playing in again. The Twins get a break in the schedule to end the month as they host the Royals. The stretch of May and June don't appear to be any easier than April, a tuff schedule to start will define the team and by the time we get into July we will have a very good idea what we have on our hands. Twins Sign J.C. Romero and Eric Munson MINNEAPOLIS - From WCCO radio, Eric Munson has signed a minor league deal with the Twins. He played catcher and third for the Tigers last year. J.C. Romero signed either a two or three year deal with the Twins. Which one is not yet clear, other details will follow when available. |
