MLB vs. NHL

MINNEAPOLIS - A decade ago many baseball fans were not thinking about baseball at this time of year. Ok, this year a lot of baseball fans are not thinking about the game right now, but for different reasons. 10 years ago the season had ended early and there was no World Series due to a strike. The players had been locked out and the season ended as August did.
It took me a few years to get back in to the game again. I think the 1995 season was the first season I didn't attend a single game, the interest wasn't there, why should I watch a game where money is the only interest to the people involved in it? I slowly started to get back into things, but it took time. It wasn't until the I was in Boston the same time the Twins were than got be back to the game in full swing of things.
The NHL has not had a season yet, not a single thing has happened, from preseason to what should have been the first game, not a thing has happened. There has been very little talk between the players association and owners. It appears the entire season will be canceled.
It took a long time for wounds to heal in baseball fans, but for the most part MLB has gotten over the damage that was done in the 1994 strike. If the NHL doesn't have a season this year wounds will be much deeper than baseball fans were. MLB might have been able to recover, the NHL will not.
