Nationals, on the move again? Mulholland to return to Twins?
From the Seats, December 16, 2004
MINNEAPOLIS - On Tuesday the District of Columbia Council approved legislation that would require a new stadium in Washington to be 50% privately funded. The council approved the bil 7 to 6 after 11 hours of debate.
Anthony Williams now has until June to find a pirate financing plan that would be worth at least half the cost of the stadium.
Twins fans are all to familiar with stadium issues and frustrations. The difference between the two are the Twins have had about 10 years to fight over a stadium and how it will be funded. The Nationals and Washington have till June.
Mullholland and others
It has been reported that the Twins are close to signing Mulholland for one year at $750,000 and Joe Randa is a possibility, supposedly around $1.75 million for one year.
If the Twins do in fact sign Mulholland to another year I think it is one of the best moves they can make with the bullpen. This is a guy who both started and was used as relief. He is so valuable to the Twins, enough to the point where I think we would be getting him at a bargain at that price. This is a guy who the Twins don't need to worry about how he feels or hurting his feelings. Just let him pitch, whether that be moping up a disaster to soak up innings to save the rest of the bullpen or to continue to get shelled in a start. He can also pitch every day.
Joe Randa comes at a great value to. Although he doesn't match up to what Koskie is, I think for the money he is the best option out there. Look at it as Koskie is an Acura and Randa is a Honda. Both cars are made by the same company and virtualy the same thing, the Acura will have more features and cost more. But the Honda will do the same job, and do a good one at that. No shame in driving the Honda. I say, lets go get "the Joker."
