Koskie's departure makes for more questions

From the Seats, December 14, 2004

MINNEAPOLIS - When Koskie decided to make the trip south to play in Toronto (yes, south), the infield from starting day 2004 will be completely different from the starting infield 2005.

Doug Mientkiewicz, Louis Rivas, Christian Guzman, and Corey Koskie made up the infield starting day 2004. For 2005 we know Justin Morneau will be at first.

Gardenhire has said he is not high on Rivas and it sound like it is possible that Rivas wont be a Twin next year. If he is, it could be possible that he wont start. It has also been said that Cuddyer is the leading candidate for third base next year, which is a very scary thought. Cuddyer makes a much better second baseman than he does third. He can handle the position but will make plenty of mistakes.

At short right now might be the biggest question mark. Bartlett? Rivas? One of the new pick ups? It might take spring training to answer that question.

Joe Randa is an available third baseman right now and is cheap. I think it would be in the Twins best interest to sign Joe Randa to have a veteran in the infield.

One thing is for certain, the more questions were created than answered on Monday when Koskie signed with the Blue Jays.
