Twins well represented in award by fan voting

From the Seats, November 7, 2004

MINNEAPOLIS - Fans have been able to vote this past week for different categories that had Twin players have been in all but one so far.

Closer of the Year featured Joe Nathan, with 44 saves in his first season of being the closer he might not get all the votes, but has certainly earned his spot on the ballot.

Juan Rincon represents the Twins for Set up Man of the Year, but unfortunately for him, he blew a pretty big game in front of a lot of people that could hurt the number of votes he gets.

Play of the Year has a Torii Hunter catch where he leaped up against the baggie to take an extra base hit away. It was a good play but the Twins did lose the game, of course at the time of the play it was 1-0 Twins so it was even bigger at that time. Hunter does have to go up against some plays that might be more popular, such as when Jeter dove into the seats. I think ESPN and the Yankees made way too big of a deal on the play, good, yes, but not the best play of all time like they make it out to be.

Rookie of the Year, Manager of the Year, Blooper of the Year, Starting Pitcher, Defensive Player, Hitter of the Year still remain to be voted on. You can vote for all these here: MLB Baseball Awards voted by fans.
