Twins offer Radke 2 year deal
From the Seats, November 4, 2004
MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Twins have offered Brad Radke a 2 year deal in the range of $14 to $19 million. Radke says he likes the idea of a two year deal but a third year or an option for a third year could be added on.
Radke has said that he is not going to rush things or put a deadline on talks with the Twins. Other teams can start talking with Radke November 12. There are plenty of teams interested in Radke, the Yankees, Red Sox and Indians being some. One of the big reasons that could be is because Radke was one of 19 AL pitchers to have reached the 200 innings mark this season.
Even though Radke says that he is willing to talk with the team after November 12 and is not setting deadlines I have to believe that the Twins will help themselves by getting a deal that both sides done as soon as possible.
After Radke the Twins still have a lot to deal with. If Guzman is not signed than a short stop is needed. If Koskie is not re-signed the position will be filled from within the team, Cuddyer and Tiffee will take over. Will Jones be moved or stay in right? At $6 million for next year it doesnt make him the most attractive option. Johan Santana should get a contract, a multi year contract that he should get after the season he had.
The Twins have a lot of work ahead, might as well get this started sooner than later.
