Guzman, Mulholland file - Twins still interested

MINNEAPOLIS - Christian Guzman and Terry Mullholand were part of the 58 players around the league that filed for free agency on Friday bringing the total head count up to 123 free agents.
The Twins are hopping to be able to re-sign Guzman to a contract that would cost the Twins less in 2005. The Twins do have Jason Bartlett and Nick Punto on the roster who both can play short. There also have been rumors about the Twins being interested in Omar Vizquel.
If Guzman can continue the defense he showed this year, I much rather see that than someone else at short for 2005. If Guzman can not be signed for less money than I wouldn't mind seeing Omar at short for the Twins for a year. I however do not think that Bartlett is ready for a full time spot there.
The Twins are interested in brining back Terry Mulholland. If Mulholland would return to the Twins for 2005 it will be a good move. Mulholland is a guy that wants the ball, he wants to pitch whenever he can and as long as he can. This is a guy that a young staff and bullpen can learn from.
If Mays can come back and pitch with some success and Radke does return to the Twins the starting staff would look something like: Santana, Radke, Mays, Silva, Lohse. If Lohse cant figure out what went wrong this year, Mulholland can step in again. If Lohse does fix what is wrong Mulholland can be that long relief, every day type pitcher that can be a huge lift to the Twins.
