The Jersey Hunt
From the Seats, October 25, 2004
MINNEAPOLIS - After this season and how Santana pitched I made up my mind that I would like to get a Johan Santana jersey. I figured this would be an off-season purchase that I would start now. This is a guy I will be a fan of as long as he is not in pin strips, so no matter where he is, I will be a fan, so why not get one, even if he is not signed to a long term contract this off season (even though I think he will be).
Easy task right? Not so. I started looking and asking questions about these jersey's that are available online and in pro shops. I find that cheap and these things dont come in the same sentence, not real news to me, but I thought the price tag was the price. HA!
There are "customizable" jerseys for $99.99. With these I you can select Johan Santana, home and away, and so on and they have his name and number on the back. Great! But not so. The number is colored blue. Blue? What is with that? The real ones they ware on the field have red numbers. And the #57 is missing from the front. So nice price, but not exactly what I am looking for. I mean, I am doing this, I want the real thing!
There are these "Authentic" jerseys that run for $189.99. But that is just for "Twins" on the front side, no name! There are a few available, Hunter and Jones that are ready to go for that price. I find out that adding the name is another $50.00, or around there. Are numbers extra from that? I dont know. Even if it does I am now up to $239.99. Eeek!
There are "Majestic" jerseys available on the Twins shop online also. These appear to be the same thing as the Authentic ones are with no name or number and run $89.99. I like the price, but I still need to add the name and numbers on, so tack on another $50 and we are at 139.99. Far better than the $240 for the Authentic, but I dont for sure know if the $50 is the exact price for the name.
I find myself at Ebay. It has been a while since I have been on Ebay. I search and find a Johan Santana jersey, made by Majestic with the number on the front and back in red and with Santana on the back. All this for $84.99 and $9.00 for shipping. This appears to be the way to go, everything that I want, for the best price around.
What size? I dont know how these run. Will a large work? I ware a large shirt, so does that mean I need an XL? Do they run big? Would a large or medium do it?
2 Down, 2 to Go for Sox
BOSTON- The Red Sox have won the first two games of the World Series to put them selves up 2-0 going to St. Louis, good shape right? Not so fast. They did take a 2-0 lead to New York in 1986 and we all know what happened there.
The Red Sox also have 8 errors in the first two games. There is no way the Red Sox can continue to play that sloppy with the Cardinals offense and get away with it. Those errors will lead to a loss in St. Louis.
I am looking for the Cardinals to take at least two games in St. Louis, should be fun!
