Why go just 9? Lets take it slow

From the Seats, October 19, 2004

BOSTON - The Red Sox like to give their fans what they paid for. So why not give them 12 innings in game 4 and 14 innings in game 5? And who would want to get down to business and play some ball, lets take time doing this.

In the last two games the Yankees and Red Sox have played the two slowest games I think I have ever seen. I didnt watch the whole game in either one, who could? Game 5 nearly went 6 hours, that is double what a normal game would take. It gets to the point you hope they just grip it and rip it!

In game 4 and 5 the Red Sox have come back late to tie the games up and than win it in extra innings. One of the best, if not the best closer in the game, Mariano Rivera has blown both games. Before this series he lost family members that were electrocuted. Should he have sat out some of the series? Should he have not pitched at all in the series? Even been there? All I know is that what we have seen doesnt happen much.

Astros take series lead

HOUSTON - When the bottom of the 9th started there were a total of two hits in the game, one for each team. Woody Williams and Brandon Backe hooked up for a heck of a pitchers duel. Both allowing a single hit and a pair of walks with 4 strike outs.

It wasn't until the bottom of the 9th when Beltran singled and Berkman was walked to get to Jeff Kent. A three run home run put the Astros up three games to two heading back to St. Louis.

I have thought this was a big game and who ever won it would win the series, but the Astros will have to do that in St. Louis which will not be easy to do.

Get ready for some good games, both games 5 should be good ones!
