It was late at night when Quinn spotted a pair of teenagers walking together, hand-in-hand.
"This should be easy," he hissed, licking his thick, silver fangs.
The couple, eventually, got the feeling they were being followed.
"Wait a sec," said the boy, stopping to look over his shoulder.
"Wha-,"
"Shh," he interrupted, " I thought I heard something."
She giggled at her boyfriend. "You're paranoid." She stopped laughing when she heard something growling. "Okay, what the hell was that?" she panicked.
The turned toward the alley they came out of and saw a pair of glowing white eyes and a sliver grin. The eyes charged the couple and an oversized ball of flaming-red fur knocked a very frightened blond over. The girl stood there as the beast's fangs tore into her boyfriend's throat; she was too in shock to scream. It finished him quickly and when it looked up at her, she gathered her nerves and ran.
"Quinn!" someone growled, stopping it before it could go after the girl.
It looked over its shoulder and saw two figures standing in the shadows. It sniffed the air, then began laughing with a beastly rasp, and turned to walk away. It turned back to see if the figures were still there, it only saw one set of white eyes. As soon as it turned forward again, all it saw was a gray mass with silver fangs go for its throat. It was the larger of the two figures. It tried to dodge its attacker, but to no avail. Its attacker forced it on its back and held it down by clasping its throat in its much larger and more powerful jaws. It tried to cry for help, but was unable to do so and didn't bother to fight back. It wasn't strong enough to try; so, it gave up. Both beasts began to take on human forms. Their fur retracted into their skin, a set of fangs retreated and their muzzles were forced back.
"Get the hell off me," growled the redhead.
"What did you think you were doing going out alone?" he growled, still baring his fangs.
Quinn stood up once his dark-haired attacker go off him. "I'm not much on sharing my meals," he snapped.
"Nemesis will deal with you." He turned to look for his companion. "Burke," he called out.
"Damn puppies, always runnin' off," Quinn chuckled. "His mother's gonna be pissed if she finds out you lost him again. You're such a screw up," he laughed.
He picked Quinn up by the throat and slammed him against the wall. "If it weren't for Burke's mother I would've killed your sorry ass a long time ago," he growled.
"Temper, temper, Demetrius." He saw a tall dark-haired, blue-eyed male approach them. "Your little pet came back."
Demetrius turned angrily to Burke. "Where the hell did you go?"
"Chill, D., I had to take a piss," he answered.
"You know you're never to leave my sight."
Quinn tried to sneak off, but Demetrius grabbed him by the collar and pulled him back.
"I'm twenty-one years old, I can take care of myself," Burke snapped.
"Your mother will deal with you."
"See, that's the problem. We're letting a bitch run everything," said Quinn.
"I advise you to keep your jaws shut."

Demetrius dragged Quinn through a crowd at a nightclub called The Silver Bullet, with Burke trailing behind. The trio entered a door, revealing a staircase that led down to the basement. Quinn was forced to his knees in front of a throne-like chair. Out of a back room came a woman with long, black hair and violet eyes. Everyone dropped to one knee in her presence. Once she sat down, they got up. When she spoke everyone was silent.
"Quinn, I hear you've been hunting alone, again, in public, and you let a human get away after seeing you."
"I would've gotten her if your little errand-boy didn't stop me," he hissed, with shackles around his neck and wrists.
"You shouldn't have been out alone, you know the rules."
"Screw the rules," he mumbled.
"This is your second offense, Quinn. One more screw up and you will be destroyed."
"Blow me, bitch."
"Take him in the back," she ordered.
Two young men took hold of his arms and dragged him, kicking and screaming, in a back room. His screams became louder, as if he was in pain. Everyone else was free to leave.
"Demetrius, where's my son?"
"He was here a minute ago."
"Burke went out with one of the young females," a female announced, before leaving.
"He's just like his father when he was that age," Nemesis spoke in concern. "Demetrius, go find my-"
"I'm right here, mom," Burke interrupted.
"You know you're never-"
"To leave Demetrius' side. I know, I know."
"Burke, you have to be more responsible. I don't want you getting killed or mating prematurely."
"Mom!" he said, outraged, and a little embarrassed.
"From now on you are never to leave here without Demetrius or an escort."
"But mom-"
"Burke, I mean it," she growled.
He growled back, baring his fangs, and left.
"I'll go get him."
"No, let him go, he needs to be alone for a while." She paused a moment. "Demetrius, get all of our strongest and healthiest members and call a meeting for midnight tonight."
"But that's two hours from now."
"And make sure my son is there." She got up and left before he could speak again.

The next day Burke managed to get away from Demetrius; he didn't know where to go since he couldn't go to any of his usual haunts because he would find him. He decided to visit Kevin; the bell for school to end rang when he got there. He watched as several girls left his class giggling and commenting on Kevin's appearance. He smiled; he remembered having a crush on his English teacher when he was their age.
"Burke? Does Demetrius know where you are?"
"Blow me," Burke responded.
"What are you doing here?"
"I'm bored and I'm sick of being treated like a damn puppy."
"Burke, you're only twenty-one."
"I'm one hundred and forty-seven in dog years." He started tugging at his pants.
"What are you doing?" he asked, appalled by his action.
"My balls itch. There must be some pussy near by."
"You have a filthy mouth."
"Young pussy, too." He sniffed the air. "Wearing peach perfume."
A girl with auburn hair and green eyes entered the room. "I'm sorry, I didn't know you were seeing anyone."
"He isn't," Burke grinned.
Kevin gave him an angry look.
"I'll come back later."
"It's all right, Ms. Johnson. This is-"
"Burke," he finished, going over to her.
"Deja," she blushed, "but everyone calls me DJ" she gazed longingly into his intense blue eyes.
"Ms. Johnson," Kevin interrupted, "is there something I can help you with?"
"Huh? Oh, yeah," she started, regaining her composure. "I need tonight's assignment."
"You're suppose to write a short story, poem, or an essay on a topic of your choice. You have two weeks to do it. I'm looking forward to reading your paper."
"Okay, thanks," she answered, blankly.
"DJ, come on!" yelled a girl from outside.
"See you tomorrow, Mr. Bradley. Good-bye, Burke." She started out the door.
"DJ!" the girl yelled again.
"I'm coming!" she yelled back, already out the door.
"You can put your tongue back in your mouth, now."
"There goes a fine piece of ass. I would love to fuck that."
"Do you always think with your dick?"
"Always," he grinned.
"I don't want you anywhere near Deja. She's a smart girl and she doesn't need you in her life," Kevin said in a serious tone.
"Just because you pulled your dick out one of the finest bitches you could get in doesn't mean I can't get my dick wet," he growled.
Kevin got up quickly and slammed Burke against the wall by his throat. "What happened between me and Casey five years ago is none of your business," he growled, his eyes glowing a vibrant white and baring his fangs. "And you wonder why you're always getting treated like a fucking puppy." He let him go and sat back down.
"Whoa, Kev, I was just fuckin' with you."
"I suggest you leave, Demetrius is coming."
Burke sniffed the air, then left using his werewolf ability. Demetrius came in soon after.
"Did you lose something?"
"I'll find Burke later, I came for you. You weren't at last night's meeting, why?"
"I had something important to do."
"Such as?"
"That's none of your business."
Demetrius let out a slight growl.
"You don't scar me, Demetrius. Just tell me what was said and leave, I have students coming in for tutoring."
"We're recruiting again and we need healthy males and females for better breeding."
"Is that all? If so, then you can leave."
Before Demetrius could say anything, a few students came in chattering and laughing amongst themselves. He left before any of them saw him.

Burke caught Deja's scent and followed it to the Eagle's Bay public library. Deja was sitting alone at a table in the back reading and taking notes. Burke sat at a nearby table and watched her.
"See something you like?" she spoke, not bothering to look up from her book.
He smiled with little embarrassment. "I see things I like all the time, it's just the matter of me wantin' them," he said, sitting next to her.
"Then I need to rephrase my question. See something you want?"
"I'm not sure, I'll let you know if I do." He smiled smugly at her. "So, what are you workin' on?"
"I'm doing research for my short story."
"The topic?"
"Lycanthropes."
"I can help with that. I happen to be an expert," he said in a proud, cocky tone.
"I knew something was wrong with you."
"Sorry you feel that way."
She continued her reading and note taking, ignoring him and his magazine. He flipped through a few pages, but stopped to look at her. She felt his eyes on her and stopped working to look at him.
"Why are you staring at me?"
"I'm tryin' to see if I can get you to give me your number without talkin', but it's not workin'."
She couldn't help but laugh at him, and was shushed by others in the library. "You're gonna get me kicked out of here," she said, still giggling.
"I didn't tell you to laugh," he countered. He looked at his watch. "I have to go, but I still would like to help you with your story."
"Why?"
"Because I'm a nice guy," he said, writing down his number. "Call me when you're ready."
Eryn came over when he left.
"He is cute. The goatee and the tattoos really work for him," she teased. "But what's with his hair?"

Weeks had gone by and Burke and Deja had gotten closer. Nemesis was unaware of his friendship with Deja, he had recruited several girls for breeding, and she didn't notice the change in his behavior.
Deja had invited Burke over and they spent the entire day together. They were lying on her bed laughing and talking.
"I haven't been this happy since my parents died," she started, calming down. "I miss them so much. You're a good friend, Burke."
"Is that all I am?" He turned his head to her.
"You want to be more than friends?" She looked at him.
He looked back at the ceiling. "It doesn't matter to me, I'm fine with the way things are now, but I wouldn't mind if we were more than friends."
She got up and went to the window. "The moon's full tonight."
"That means all the psychos will be out." He got up. "Well, it's gettin' late, I should be goin'."
"No, wait. Don't leave."
"Why?"
"All the psychos are out, I don't want you to get hurt."
He smiled. "I'm a big boy, I can take care of myself."
"I know," she sighed, "but I don't want you to leave. Please stay."
He looked into her green eyes and sighed in defeat. "All right. What now?"
She yawned and sat on the bed. "Sleep."
"Sounds good to me." He hopped in the bed next to her and put his arm around her after she had laid down.
"Good night, Burke."
"Sweet dreams, girl."

The next morning, Burke was the first to wake.
He kissed her cheek, startling her. "I'm sorry, I thought you were awake."
"I was, I've been awake for a while."
"What's wrong?"
"I had a nightmare. I was running through the woods; this wolf that looked like it was on steroids was chasing me. I fell down and this ball of white fur jumped on me. The last thing I saw was its glowing, white eyes before I woke up. And when I woke up, there was a pentegram on my hand, but it vanished."
"Werewolves on the brain."
"Do you think I'm crazy?" she asked, facing him.
"Yes," he chuckled, "but I like you that way." He pulled her closer. "Eskimo kiss."
"What?"
He rubbed his nose against hers before she could pull away.
"You're crazy," she laughed.
"I know. Look, I have to go, but I wanna take you out tonight."
"Like a date?"
He pushed her away. "No way, friends don't date each other."
She rolled her eyes.
"Since the moon is goin' to be full again, I thought we'd go to the beach."
"At night?"
"It's more fun and less crowded. So, what do you say?"
"If I say no, will it stop you?"
"No. Now come walk me out."
"I don't feel like it."
"Fine, I'll take you with me." He picked her up, threw here over his shoulder, and carried her down the stairs.
"Burke, put me down."
He did as she asked. "See you tonight?"
"Yes," she smiled.
"Great, I'll pick you up at eight."
"Bye, Burke." She closed the door behind him.
"Awe, it's like watching 'Dawson's Creek,' before it turned into 'Melrose Place'."

Burke wen home, showered, dressed, and headed back out. He ran into two of his friends. Jake, a blond; and Diego, a brunet.
"Yo, B., I can't thank you enough for all the honeys you recruited for the pack," said the blond happily.
"Yeah, I can't wait 'til it's time to mate with the lovely pieces of ass we have," the brunet agreed.
Burke shook his head in exasperation. "Is that all you two think about?"
"Yes," they answered.
Jake went over and sniffed Burke.
"Will you stop," Burke demanded.
"Smells like he's been with a female, but…"
"He didn't do her," Diego finished. "I thought somethin' was up with you."
"So who's the bitch that's got you pussy-whipped?"
"Her name is none of your business and I'm not pussy-whipped. I'll catch you two later."
"It hurts me to see one of the finest go down like this," Diego said.
"Nem's not gonna be happy about this," Jake shouted.
"Then don't tell her," Burke shouted back.
They looked at each other with devilish grins and evil looks in their eyes. "We wont."

Eryn had a date with Kevin that night. He took her out to dinner, and they were on their way back to her place. When they got there, Deja was already gone.
"Where'd she go?" asked Kevin.
"Out with a friend of hers."
"Anyone I know?" he asked, in a tone lower than before, wrapping his arms around her and gently nipping her neck.
"I doubt it," she giggled.
"Let's go up stairs."
"Whoa, down boy. You know it's your time of the month, and I don't wan you to kill me the way you killed Casey." She turned to face him. "But I still love you."
"I know you do. I love you, too."
"Now, lets get you chained up before you change," she said, leading him to the basement.
He stopped, slightly yanking her back.
"What's wrong?" she asked in concern.
"Why are you doing this?"
"Because, it takes a lot of guts to tell a girl you're a werewolf. And I'm in to the bondage thing," she smiled.
He laughed at her remark, then kissed her. "I want you to marry me."
"It doesn't help when the equinox falls on the night of a full moon, does it?"
"Eryn, I'm serious."
"I know you are. Of course I'll marry you." She kissed him softly. "Can I lock you up now?" she grinned.
"Yes," he sighed, smiling, "but it's only nine o'clock. I have at least two hours. What's the rush?"
"You're extremely horny, aren't you?"
He looked her in the eyes, and led her up stairs.

Deja and Burke were walking along the beach together; it didn't take him long to realize Jake and Diego were following them.
"Why the hell are you two followin' us?"
"We wanted to see who you've been ditchin' us for," answered Diego.
"She looks a hell of a lot better than the other bitches you brought in."
Burke started to change and beat the hell out of the two of them, but remembered Deja was with him. "Can't you two see I'm busy?"
"It's about time you saw some action, and from the looks of her, it was well worth the wait," Jake replied.
Burke excused himself and dragged the two away from her. "What the fuck is wrong with the two of you?" he growled.
"Nemesis doesn't want you to see your little friend anymore."
"She's not worthy of your favor," Jake laughed.
"What I do is no one's business. I want the two of you to stay the hell away from us." He went back to Deja's side.
"Everything okay?"
"Yeah. Let's go back to my place, I need to get something, then I'll take you home."
She knew he was still angry and he, more than likely, wouldn't try anything with her.
Once they arrived at his house, Deja began to question him.
"Would you like to tell me what happened back on the beach?"
"Nothin', just a couple of friends that were bein' total assholes," he answered. "I lose female friends that way."
"What are you looking for?"
He slammed his hands on the desk. " I don't even remember." He looked out the window and laughed. "I can't believe this."
"What?"
"It's rainin' and my car's in the shop, so I can't take you home."
"But I have to be with my sister tonight," she panicked. She had remembered Kevin was with her.
"You won't be tonight." He saw how upset she was a felt bad. "I'm sorry. Look, you can have my room and I'll stay in the living room. There are some shirts in the top drawer and some boxers in the second. If you're still uncomfortable, you can lock the door when I leave."
She nodded. "Good night," she said as he headed out.
"Sweet dreams." He closed the door behind him.
A couple of hours had past and Deja was restless. The storm was still going, and she tossed and turned until she was awakened by the roar of thunder and vibrant flashes of lightening. Burke sensed her distress and silently entered the room.
"Everything okay?" he asked, sitting at the end of the bed.
"What time is it?"
"Eleven forty. You're shakin', what's wrong?"
A crash of lightening scared her into his arms. They looked each other in the eyes; he leaned in to kiss her, but stopped himself. He didn't want to take advantage of her in her frightened state. To his surprise, she pulled him on top of her as she went to lie down, locking their lips together.
Midnight came and the moon was at its peak. His body began to swell and harden while he was still inside her. He looked out the window and realized it was the night of the equinox and he couldn't control his changes. She let out a cry in pain; he pulled out and fell to the floor. His muscles became larger, course strands of fur pierced his flesh from the inside out, and his face started to push out and form a muzzle.
"Burke, are you all right?" she asked, frightened by his grunts and groans of discomfort.
"Get out," he uttered, through slow sharpening fangs.
"What's the matter?" she asked, getting more concerned.
"I said get out!" he growled, still trying to force back the painful changes. "Oh God! Please get out!" he cried in pain.
She looked over the side of the bed and her eyes widened in fear. She opened her mouth to scream, but nothing came out. Deja quickly gathered her things and ran out the door.

The next day, Burke woke up sore and his face and body were covered in blood, but it wasn't his. He went to The Silver Bullet to look for Kevin, but remembered he was still at the school. Burke waited impatiently outside the classroom until the bell rang to go home.
"Burke? Man, you look like hell."
"Thanks, I'm tryin' out a new look," he growled.
"Did someone forget to feed you today?"
Burke rolled his eyes. "Have you seen Deja?"
"No, she didn't come to school today. Why?"
Burke lost the feeling in his legs and had to hold onto Kevin's desk. "Oh God, no," he gasped.
"Are you all right?"
"I…I told her to leave…"
"Wait a minute. You're the friend she was with?"
He nodded.
"Didn't you know last night was the equinox?"
"I had blood on me this morning…"
"Burke, I told you to stay away from her."
Before Burke could speak again, a green-eyed brunette walked in. she set her eyes on an emotional Burke and ran for him with fire and rage in her eyes. Kevin caught her before she reached him.
"Let me go!" she yelled, trying to loosen Kevin's hold on her.
"Not until you calm down."
"DJ's in the hospital because of him."
"She's in the hospital?" Burke asked, a bit relieved.
"Did she have any scratches or cuts?" asked Kevin.
"No. It just looked like she was raped. Is he one of you, too?" she asked.
Kevin nodded.
Eryn was more enraged and, again, tried for Burke. Kevin held her back.
"Is she gonna be okay?" Burke asked, keeping his distance.
"What do you care?" she hissed. "How could you do that to her?"
"I…didn't…I didn't mean to. I…I'm sorry."
"You should be," she snapped.
"I didn't rape her, I swear."
"If I get my hands on you, I'll kill you, you fucking bastard!"
"I'm sorry," he uttered, then left.
"Why didn't you tell me he was a werewolf?"
He turned her around. "Because, you didn't tell me he was dating her."
"Why are you so calm?" she fussed.
"I'm always calm when I'm around you," he smiled.
She turned back around and sat on his lap. "I saw the strangest thing this morning. I woke up and my hand was sore and there was a pentegram on it, but it disappeared. I wonder what it meant."
"You're a future werewolf victim," he said, blankly.
"Well, you already have my hear," she looked into his eyes, "I might as well join your world."

Burke and Nemesis were in the middle of an argument.
"I thought you were responsible enough to go out without Demetrius, but apparently I was wrong," she said in anger.
"I don't need you to tell me what to do, I'm not a puppy anymore!" he yelled.
"Where are you going?"
"None of your damn business," he snapped, heading out the door.
"Burke-"
"Leave the fuck alone, mom!" He slammed the door behind him.
Demetrius walked in. "Are you all right?" he asked, in his usual monotone.
"Yes."
"Should I go after him?"
"Quinn is missing, and Jake and Diego haven't checked in tonight."
"Jake won't ever be checkin' in," Diego shouted, entering the room. "Burke killed him last night and he almost killed me."
Nemesis looked at Demetrius with sadness in her eyes, then looked down. She knew the penalty for killing one of your own without just cause. Not even royalty could escape the rule. Demetrius, regretfully, went after Burke.
Burke stopped by his house, then headed to the hospital.
"I suggest you come in before someone sees you," Deja spoke, with her back turned to him.
"How do you do that?" He came in and closed the door behind him.
"I just do."
He sat in a chair in front of her. "Your sister knew about my kind, did you?"
She nodded. "Crinos breed, right?"
"How'd you know?"
"Silver-white fur. Kevin's lupus."
He knelt down on the floor in front of her. "I'm sorry about last night." He began to cry.
She touched his face. "Don't be."
"I could've killed you. I had blood on me this mornin', I thought I killed you."
"But you didn't."
"Deja, I love you." He pulled a ring out of his pocket. "I want you to be with me."
Kevin stopped, causing Eryn to bump into him, then sniffed the air.
"What's wrong?" she asked.
"Nothing. Wait here, I want to talk to DJ alone."
"Why?"
"Just wait here." He kissed her cheek, then left. He entered the room, catching Burke and Deja off guard. "Burke, you better leave. Eryn's still angry with you and Demetrius is on his way up."
Burke looked behind Kevin. "Too late, he's here," he growled, baring his fangs.
"Now isn't the time, Demetrius," Kevin growled.
"He knows what happens when you kill your own for no reason."
"What?"
Kevin looked at Burke. "You killed Jake last night."
"What's gonna happen to you?" Deja asked.
"I'll be executed. I didn't know who I killed until now. I forgot about the equinox."
Eryn grew impatient and came in. "What's going-" She was cut off when she ran into Demetrius. She looked into his menacing black eyes and ran to Kevin.
"I think you should leave," Kevin said sternly.
v "I will when Burke comes with me."
"I'm stayin' here," he said, still close to Deja.
"Sweetie, why is Demetrius here?" she whispered in his ear.
"He's after Burke."
"Don't make this harder on yourself, Burke."
"D., I'm serious, I'm not goin' anywhere with you."
"Why does he want him?"
"Because he killed another werewolf last night."
Eryn looked at Burke angrily. " You're just an evil bastard, aren't you?"
"Eryn!" Kevin fussed.
"Please don't leave me, Burke," Deja pleaded.
"Don't worry, I won't." He kissed her softly.
"He didn't rape her, did he?"
Kevin shook his head.
Demetrius made his way behind Burke and put his arm around his throat, then left faster than he came.
"No!" Deja cried.
Eryn went to her and held her. "Kevin, go help him."
"I can't, he'd kill me instantly."
"Kevin, please help him," Deja cried, "I love him."
"Burke is stronger than Demetrius, he can take care of himself."
"But he's younger than Demetrius."
"Burke's a strong fighter, he'll be okay," he reassured them. "I hope," he mumbled to himself.
Demetrius held on to Burke long enough to get him outside. Burke's eyes began to glow, his teeth became fangs, his height increased slightly, and his hands formed long claws.
"I won't let you take me from her," he growled angrily. "I suggest you leave."
"We both know I can't."
"I won't fight you, Demetrius. Walk away."
Demetrius stood there, motionless. Instead, Burke walked away. Demetrius quickly changed and attacked Burke from behind. They fought, each one going for the other's throat. Burke's silver-white fur was stained with blood, but he continued to fight his slightly smaller opponent.
Kevin could hear their altered barks and growls. One final yelp was heard and then there was silence. Kevin looked at Eryn; she could see the pain in his eyes. Deja could see it as well, and cried even more.

Several months had gone by; Demetrius was finished recovering and was back at Nemesis' side. The pack had moved to a new city and Kevin was transferred to a high school in the pack's new home. Eryn, now a werewolf, and Deja went with them.
Deja was near the end of her senior year at the school. She still wore the ring Burke had given her, often staring at it mindlessly.
"Ms. Johnson, you have an appointment in the guidance office," said her teacher.
Deja slowly rose from her seat and left the room. When she got there, the counselor and Kevin were seated with looks of concern on their faces.
"Great, an intervention," she groaned, plopping down on the couch.
"I'm worried about her. She's a bright girl, but she won't participate in anything or socialize with anyone," said the counselor.
"A close friend of ours died about a year ago," Kevin said. "My wife and I have tried therapy, but she won't go."
"Why are you two acting as if I'm not even in the room?" she interrupted.
Kevin turned to her and took hold of her hand. "DJ, sweetheart, you have to get over him. He's gone."
She snatched her hand back. "He still might be here if you had helped him," she hissed angrily.
"DJ, wait a minute," Kevin called out.
"Just leave me alone," she shouted, going out the door.
She went outside and wandered around for a while before sitting under a willow tree. She poked at the ground with a stick and remembered the fun she and Burke had together. Her thoughts were interrupted by the feeling she only got when Burke was around. She turned around to see who was there and saw no one.
"Please don't cry," said a male's voice. He lifted her chin and kissed her softly. "You're much too beautiful to be so sad."
She hugged him tightly and cried on his shoulder. "Please don't leave me," she sobbed.
"I could never leave you," he said as he helped her up, "I love you."
She looked into his eyes and kissed him, then slapped him hard across the face and turned her back to him.
"I guess I deserved that."
"If you loved me, you wouldn't have let me think you were dead."
"You're right, and for all it's worth, I'm sorry. Forgive me?" He turned her back around and peered into her eyes.
"Of course I forgive you."
"Eskimo kiss," he said with a sheepish grin.
She laughed as he rubbed his nose against hers and tickled her mercilessly. He stopped to kiss her.
"I've missed you," he said.
"Me too."
"I see you're still wearin' the ring I gave you."
"I never take it off. I still love you."
"Good, 'cause I still want you to marry me," he started, nuzzling and nipping her neck and ear. "I wanna make love to you every night, I wanna start a family with you," he growled, "I wanna be with you for the rest of my unnatural life. Please say you'll marry me."
Her eyes began to tear, and she shook her head.
"Is that a yes?"
She nodded happily. He hugged and kissed her. He stopped when he smelled another of his kind.
"What's wrong?"
He just smiled and kissed her again, this time longer, more deeply than before, squeezing her body against his.
"Burke?" Kevin smiled.
"Hey, Kev."
"We thought you were-"
"I know."
"When did you get here and how'd you find us?"
"Today and I gotta nose. Heard you got married. How's the lovely Mrs. Bradley?"
"Fine and five months pregnant. And you?"
"Happy and engaged." He looked at Deja.
Kevin looked at her and smiled with approval.
"I'm happy for the both of you. Does you mother know you're here?"

"You know if anyone sees you, they'll kill you on sight," Kevin said.
"I know."
Deja looked up at him. "What're you going to do?"
