SWEET ICE TEA
Microwave Directions 1-gallon For Picnics or Outdoor BBQ's, use an empty clean plastic gallon jugs from water or orange juice to make and serve Ice Tea in. They are really handy to carry to the table and easy to dispose of after the meal is over. Heat 10 teabags in approximately 3 cups of water in the microwave for 4-5 minutes. Allow the teabags to stand, undisturbed for 10 minutes. Remove the teabags from the tea water and use a funnel to pour the tea into the gallon jug. Add 1 cup of sugar or sugar substitute to the jug of tea. Fill the jug of tea mixture half full of cold tap water and then place the cap on the jug. Shake the jug for a few minutes to dissolve and blend the ingredients together. Remove the cap and add enough water to fill the jug. Place the cap back on the jug securely, shake the jug again and then serve the tea over a glass of ice. Notetake the taste test and add more sugar if necessary. Noteyou can use a sugar substitute; simply add the same amount of sugar substitute as you would regular sugar. Stovetop Directions 2-quarts Using a medium-size saucepan, bring 5 cups of water to a rapid boil. Turn off the heat and remove the saucepan from the heat. Carefully add 7 teabags to the hot water and then cover the saucepan with a lid. Allow the tea to set approximately 10-minutes undisturbed. Pour the hot tea into a 2-quart pitcher. Add 1 cup of sugar and stir. Fill the pitcher of tea the rest of the way up with cold tap water and stir again. Pour the tea over a glass of ice and serve. Actually this ice tea will taste store-bought if you could use an artificial sweetener instead of sugar, such as Splenda.
