How To Lose Weight
MAIN MENU
Readers, this page is simply a page intended for our readers to discuss issues concerning losing weight with other readers struggling down the same path.
Our readers talk about the things that worked for them, things that were impossible, their feelings, their health, their attempts and their success stories.
FromDebbiesKitchen is no more than an ordinary family of friends sitting around the kitchen table discussing weight issues. We have no expertise in the subject of weight other than what has worked for us and what does not.
You should always consult a Doctor about weight control, dieting and excercise.

Things I Can Do To Help Myself
Eat slower.
Use a smaller plate.
Portion tomorrow's snacks in baggies the night before.
Eat more fruit and vegetables.
Drink more water.
Consistant excercise.
Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
Mow the grass.
Walk more.
Stop eating when I first feel full.
Don't eat cake, pie and/or cookies everyday.
Purchase fat-free, sugar free whenever possible.
Take my lunch instead of buying it.
Switch to diet soda.
Weigh or size my food portions and stick to it.
Become a clock-watcher for meals.
Lay off the fried foods and starchy carbs, such as pasta and bread.
Skip a meal, drink a power drink instead or a glass of milk.
Reader's Thoughts and Suggestions Below...
Limiting my Sugar Intake...
I believe that limiting my sugar intake to once or twice a week as a treat helps me to control my weight. I am referring to cakes, cookies, pie and ice cream.
By allowing myself a certain day of the week to enjoy any dessert my heart desires, I don't crave sugar all day anymore. It is like my mind knows that Sunday is Dessert Day!
My Working Diet...
I stopped working a few years ago and I gradually started gaining weight. Igained 15 pounds in a very short time. After giving this a lot of thought I realized I was now eating 3 meals a day and sitting down or snacking more often. When I worked away from home I was usually rushing around every morning and did not have time to eat breakfast. Once at work I was so busy I never took a normal lunch hour. Supper was the one meal I gorged myself on and then after supper I had to clean things up, get the housework done, wash clothes for the family, help kids with homework, baths, you name it. By the time I got to bed everyone else had been asleep for hours. With all the extra time on my hands no wonder I've gained weight. Now I schedule my food intake and try to get moving and eat as if I was at work again.
The Cereal Diet...
My next door neighbor lost a lot of weight recently. I asked him how he lost so much weight so fast and he told me he went on a cereal diet. He said he ate cereal with milk for breakfast and cereal and milk for lunch and then ate a moderate size supper with no snacking between meals or after supper.
Diet and Excercise Diet...
My middle aged son has lost weight and gained muscle by a program he signed up for that is based on baked, boiled or broiled lean meat, no fat and a 20-minute a day work out that includes lifting weights.
