Upon his introduction, we learn that Poo is Dalaam's royal prince. "EarthBound" fanfic writers have different ways of reacting to this fact.
Given what little personal info is available for each lead character in the game, some authors choose, primarily, to stay in line with Poo's responsible tendencies and noble background. As a result, there are many fanfics in which he comes off as restrained in manner and articulate in speech -- just as he appears to be in "EarthBound."
Other stories look beneath what's on the surface and give Poo more of a "common" personality while retaining the traits he is known for (this is arguably one of the trickier procedures in "EarthBound" fanfic writing). Fanfics of this variety can cover several different bases, ranging from dialogue that simply sounds more relatable, to Poo feeling a degree of anxiety over his royal future.

Despite Poo's apparent popularity with young women, this finer trait has not seen much significance in "EarthBound" fanfiction, likely due to it being little more than a humorous passing mention in the game. When things start getting serious, however, there are a few examples that can be recalled. On rare occasions, he is used as a possible alternative to Ness for Paula's affections. He also has a steady girlfriend in some stories, and has children in certain Neo-"EarthBound" tales.
