Selfish, Ungrateful, Melodramatic

You take the time
to recognize the monster
in the closet
only in the dark
you feel its bearing presence.
Where does it hide
when you turn on the light?
Only in the shadow
can be safely shed
where your tears
< Aae also sounds of these
demons
that youve welcomed to your head.

You know shes hurting
from your neglect
the one who chased them away
so you could feel safe when you slept
but you never took the time to tell her
youre grateful that shes there
No, you just push her away
and tell her she doesnt care
That she couldnt possibly
understand you brain
let alone understand
why youre in so much pain.
No, you just push her away
And tell her shes not listening
doesnt hear a word you say
but you never stop to think
that shes felt this same way
That you dont care,
dont understand,
that youre never there
to offer a hand
But if there was a storm
shed offer you cover
And youd run for her warmth
though, to you, shell always be
your oblivious mother.
