This web site borrows its name from the following anecdote about a frog's nervous system:

 A Frog's nervous system can only detect large changes in temperature.

 If you put a frog in a pot of boiling water... its nervous system will detect the drastic temperature change... and it will jump out. But... if you put him in a pot of cold water and slowly raise the temperature... the temperature change will be slow... his nervous system will not detect it... and he will stay in the pot until he is cooked!

 This observation has led people to coin the phrase "like a frog in the pot" when referring to the erosion of the rights of individuals slowly over time, or to changes in our society or culture.  If it is done slow enough, it is imperceptible to the average person!
