2007 Festival Report
Hello to all of our frog friends!  I just wanted to write down a few memories from this years festival so we don't forget how wonderful it was!  We really had pretty great weather- started out pretty hot for land
rush and ended up nice and cool (ok, a bit cold- but GREAT!)  Nothing
unexpected for Kansas!  Land rush line was fun- there were several of
us camped very close together (Bill, Sharon, Ron, Gene, Joe & I) making it quite fun and comfortable.  We were very lucky this year setting up camp
and ended up with a large space- much more than we have had for
many years!  It was nice to have an open area for jamming and for the campfire that we really needed later in the week!
We were all very saddened when our camp area was robbed late Sunday night/early Monday morning and Sharon's beautiful dulcimer and jewelry were lost.  She is such a dear friend and lovely person that it really broke our hearts to see her hurt this way!  I'm going to place a link from our "Froggy Mtn Links" page to her list and pictures of the stolen items in case anyone may be able to use this information to help in any way.
All of the camp meals were excellent this year, and extra thanks to Jack for his wonderful Dutch Oven cooking.  It was fun to watch him cook with the oven and really great to have the tasty biscuits and breads!
The David Munnelly Band opened the festival this year at the Wednesday night concert with the release of their new "Live at Winfield" CD.  As usual, none of us won any of the door prizes!
There were a couple of new groups to check out this year- "The Wiyos" that everyone really loved, and "Mountain Smoke" who I heard good things about but never got to see myself.  Camp jams were good, and the 10:00 fiddle fest was a great time (thou smaller than usual?)  By the end of the week, Chris, Rob, Jeremy and I actually started to learn most of the songs!
I guess thats about all I can remember!  As always- I would love to post
any pictures or comments that anyone wants to send me!  I especially want to remind everyone to send in the FROGHEAD PICTURES from unusual places!!  I am starting to get a few- so DON'T FORGET!!
Love ya'll & hope to see you before next year!
