| Episode 2: Unexpected Redecorating |
| The seemingly long pause that focused on Jeremy's inability to command was not so long as it seemed to seem, as it ended in a seemingly seamless flash of brainpower. "I have an idea!" He yelled, jumping out of his chair. He turned to face Ben's station. "Ben, locate the nearest nebula so we can hide in it." He thumbed a button on his chair's control panel. "Engine room, I need the engines online now!" He pressed another button on the control panel. "Hospital room, standby to receive wounded." Everyone around him, even the people he didn't give orders to, started yelling and arguing with each other. The ship kept shaking, injuring crewmen and sending out electrical sparks in random directions. "What's a nebula!?!" yelled Ben. "What am I suppose to do??" shouted Jennifer on the intercom. "The computer is mad at me for matter-izing too many band-aids and I'm running out!" "How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?!?!" screamed Mat at the top of his lungs. "The engine is about to explode, captain. I can't contain it." Said Dan, in his calm and dull voice. "Stop yelling!" bellowed Jeremy. The room fell silent for a split second, until the next hit from the enemy ship. Jeremy turned and pressed the button to talk to Jennifer. "Okay, Jen, start matter-izing duct tape." He pressed another button. "Dan, use the extra engine that we have in the cargo bay. We'll fix the old one later." He turned to Ben. "Ben, just press allot of buttons and the information will eventually appear." Jeremy sat back down in his chair and stared ahead for a few minutes. "It's working!" stated Jennifer. "I'm taping the wounded now, captain!" "The engine has been replaced. You now have full engine power, captain." reported Dan. "I found the nebula!" Ben raised a fist in success. "I did it, captain!" "Yes! Anita, head for that nebula, quickly!" ordered Jeremy. "Let me guess, just press a lot of buttons right?" Anita seemed very pleased with herself at that moment. "This job is easy!" Anita, the Rentacar's pilot, began pressing random buttons on the consol in front of her. She began turning knobs and pulling levers and eventually started pulling springy things. The ship she was flying started to accelerate and it's engines blasted it in space, but not in the right direction. It started to fly towards an unknown planet at very high speed. "NO!" Jeremy smashed his fist into his armrest. "Dammit, Anita! Ben could push allot of buttons because his buttons have no chance of killing us all! Ben has crappy buttons!" Ben started moping around "Crappy buttons?" he lowered his head and frowned. "Awww..." "Umm...hehe..." Anita shrugged. "Oops...?" "The planet is getting closer!" Mat stood up on his chair pointing to the viewscreen. "It looks like were going to crash!" he started biting the nails of the hand he wasn't pointing with. "You don't say..." Brittany remarked, looking up at him. "You still stink, you know." "Impact in thirty seconds!" yelled Alex from his station. "All hands, brace for impact!" commanded Jeremy. "We're in the process of crashing!" Mat squatted down and tucked in his arms. The ship hits the ground and bounces off with it's remaining acceleration. The fresh paint peals off the side of the craft as rocks and trees hit it's hull. It eventually slows down enough to halt. Ben hoists himself from the wreckage that fell on him. "Is everybody okay?" he asked. "Yeah, don't worry, the walls are made out of foam, that way the ship acts like an airbag." Said Jeremy, rubbing his bruised head. "We've crashed!" was Mat's obvious observation. "Brittany rolled her eyes. "Maybe we should find out where we are." She suggested. "Right, good idea." Jeremy stood out of his chair and put his hands on his waist. "We'll send an away team outside to explore. Here's the plan: Schnubb, you'll come along to make sure we don't miss anything obvious. Brittany, you'll come to make sure we don't do anything stupid. Alex, you'll take two anonymous crewmen for security. I will be the lead explorer. The rest of you will stay here and repair the ship." There was a short, awkward silence in the room. Some of the random crewmen looked at each other, wondering if they'd be picked for the away team. The senior officers looked at each other in a weird way too. Ben was the first to speak up. "We don't...have and repairing experience." He said. "You have duct tape right?" asked the captain. "Yeah..." Ben exchanged more weird looks with the crew. "Problem solved." said Jeremy. The away team leaves the ship through one of the airlocks. Hours pass while they explore the surroundings and the rest of the crew repair the ship. Dan was in charge of repairs, and while he was boring and had the capacity to render people unconscious with his speech, he was very efficient in engine work. Jennifer and Anita had stepped out of the open airlock to escape the musty duct tape smell and get some air. Jennifer stretch as Anita watched the clouds go by. Jennifer suddenly noticed a little animal hopping around; making it's way towards them. "Hey, look!" she addressed Anita. "Cute little fuzzy creatures!" "Awww...how cuddly!" Crewman #59 comes out of the airlock just as Anita was going to pet the creature. "Look out," he said. "They may bite!" As anticipated, the cute little fuzzy creature jumps up without warning and completely devours the crewman in a flash. Before Jen and Anita could even scream in terror, they were jumped by dozens of the creatures and thrown back in the ship. More and more of the creatures piled into the open airlock and the entire crew was eventually overrun, gagged, and put in the cargo bay. Now all that is left is the brave away team. Will they rescue they're colleagues? Or die trying? Find out next time on: Adventures In Space!!! (echo effect) |
