Episode 1: Broken Nightstand
The bridge of the Rentacar looked futuristically stylish, complete with cup holders on every chair. Every station had an indicator plaque and it's operator's name below it so that the idiots on the ship would never get lost. The senior staff of the new crew was standing around the bridge twiddling their thumbs when captain Jeremy clears his throat in preparation for a speech.

"Well, my friends, this is a great day. We are being sent on our very first mission to explore the unknown. Even if we die in the effort, if we make contact with other races, other civilizations, then we would have done our job! I'd also like to take a moment to-"
"Dammit, Jeremy!" interrupted Alex. "Let's just go already!"
"Yeah, you dumbass! Let's go!" added Ben, almost with pride.
"All right, all right, fine. Pilot, ahead full!" was Jer's order.

Anita looked around her console at the many buttons. She had taken the basic pilot training in the academy, but had never really paid attention to anything her instructors told her, finding the graffiti on the desks more interesting. When came time for her final exam, she got lucky by guessing the right buttons. "Ummmm..." she muttered.
"Any time now." said Jer.
"Aha!" shouted Anita. "Maybe this one!"

The Rentacar flew out of the solar system and lunged through space as everyone plowed back into their seats. The lights around them started flickering and sparks flew out of some panels setting small clouds of smoke into the air. The stars on the viewscreen started streaking by faster and faster until the ship came to a dead halt.

Dan, the engineer, spoke up. "It seems you have inadvertently activated the full-thrust propulsion unit, creating a sub-space field affecting our trans-molecular conduits which overloaded the positronic dischargers which in turn created an anti-magnetic discharge in the virtual space surrounding our spacecraft propelling us forward at an unknown speed, most probably greater than sub-space light molecules, and we are now at an unknown location, probably at the other end of the galaxy, or maybe even in a parallel universe."
"Ow! My head! Stop using big words! Ow ow ow!" Brittany hid her head between her arms and covered her ears.
"Dude," Ben addressed Dan. "that third arm is really disgusting."
"What if I punched you with it? Would that be disgusting?" was the reply.
"Hell yes! Punch the moron! HAHAHA!!!" Alex started jumping in the air with excitement.
"And what's up with that smell?" Anita said, sniffing around.
"Oh, sorry." Mat stood up and kind of waved to everyone. "That would be me."
"Geez!" Jer shouted in disgust. "Does your species ever bathe??"
"Sure we do! We bathe regularly! I washed myself not even three months ago! What do you take me for?" said the Schnubb, frustrated. "And it's not even because of that anyways! It's because I'm in heat!" he added.
"Eeewww!" Jennifer the doctor waved her hand in front of her face as if to get rid of the smell.
"Oh my god!" Brittany attempted to read Mat's mind. "That's what Schnubbs think all the time? Groooss! Remind me never to read your mind again!"
"Umm..." Ben looked around his console. "My computer is telling me that the air filters are broken, or something like that..."
"Dammit, Schnubb!" Jeremy pounded his armrest.
"What? I can't smell a thing!" was Mat's defense.
"You broke the ventilation system!" Jen raised her arms in protest. "If people start dying, I am NOT treating them!"
"HAHA!" Alex was jumping even more now. "You suck, Schnubb!"

Suddenly, the ship started shaking again. This wasn't the same shaking as before though, it was more direct and intense. Even more sparks than before were flying out of random consoles sending even more smoke into the air.

"Oh no!" Jeremy pounded his armrest again. "Report!"
"I think...that we just got shot. I'm not sure." Reported Ben after the bridge shook again.
"All hands, battle stations!" Jeremy's eyes went narrow.

Dan and Jennifer took the bridge's exit to go to their respective battle stations while the rest of the bridge crew examined their stations and were preparing for battle.

"How many ships are out there?!" demanded Jeremy from his captain's chair.
"The sensors can't cut through the magnetic interference!" yelled Ben over the noise of the battle.
"Doesn't there have to be a magnetic field somewhere for there to be magnetic interference?" asked Mat, trying hard to look and sound intelligent.
"Yes...It's just that...well, we don't have any sensors." said Ben, visibly sad.
"Then why did you say there was magnetic interference?" asked Brit.
"Because...I thought I might get fired if you knew we had no sensors!"
"Why don't you just look out the window?" A crewman, by the name of crewman #98, said. "Shut up you." Jeremy looked annoyed. "Get off my bridge." he said calmly.
"Can I shoot him? Huh? Please?" Alex had stopped bouncing and was now completely concentrated on shooting the crewman.
"No." was Jeremy's answer, to which Alex looked disappointed with. "Maybe later." he added to Al's contentment.

The ship shakes again, and this time, not just the sparks started flying, but they were frying random crewmen. When they fell to the floor, more random crewmen would come pick them up and bring them to the medical bay.

"Engines are down! We can't go anywhere!" shouted Anita, trying to understand what the computer was telling her.
Brittany rubbed her head. "The ships are getting closer!" she said. "What are we going to do?!"

A seemingly long pause focused on Jeremy. He looked around the bridge and noticed all the battle damage. The ship kept shaking from enemy fire as he was deciding what to do. The first mission of the starship Rentacar hadn't started quite as well as he had hoped?
Will our heroes escape? Or will they're enemies destroy them? Find out next time on:
