| You Say You Want a Revolution? (click Revolutions to Download song, if you have Windows Media Player it just opens and plays.) In the 1960s, The Beatles wrote a song called Revolution that remains popular to this day because it strikes a nerve in nearly everyone who hears it. You say you want a revolution Well you know We all want to change the world Its truewe do all want to change the world. Instilled inside each and every one of us is a God-given desire to make a difference, to have an impact, to leave behind some footprints to follow before we make our final trip around the sun. In short, we want to revolutionize our corner of the planet! Or at least we did at some point in our lives. Remember when you were a kid and people asked what you wanted to be when you grew up? The answers were simple. Astronaut, doctor, firefighter, athlete- all occupations that function as world changing roles. But then we all got older and the thoughts began to creep in that perhaps we werent meant to change anything except our majors, our jobs, our homes, and our childrens diapers. God has a different idea. Jesus came and told his disciples, "I have been given complete authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:18-20) Being used by God to help bring the nations into a permanent, loving relationship with Jesus Christis there anything more world changing than that? The problem is that by all accounts, we are not accomplishing our mission. Most youth groups are long on conversations, but short on conversions. There is a lot of talk and planning- but somehow unsaved teens are not frequenting the church. At Dare 2 Share, we are convinced it is time for a revolution. A change in the way things are being done in youth ministry. Our initiative is called the e-team Revolution. The e-team (short for evangelism team) is composed the students and an adult leader whose hearts are breaking for the lost, and who want to make a difference which will last for eternity. They are Great Commission-driven students who are looking for a purpose and are willing to commit to the cause of evangelism by fulfilling their positions. The e-team functions in the context of the weekly youth group meeting. A survey by George Barna indicated that 9 out of 10 unsaved teens said they would come to church if invited by a friend. Therefore, an invitational youth group based strategy provides the perfect opportunity for the e-team to operate with maximum effectiveness. The entire e-team strategy revolves around a concept called the prayer-dare-share. The prayer-dare-share strategy is a model based on a study by the Link Institute of effective youth evangelists. The students who were most effective at sharing their faith prayed weekly with their Christian friends for their non-Christian friends to come to Christ, invited (or dared) their friends to come to outreach meetings and shared the gospel consistently with them. The prayer-dare-share works most effectively when the youth leader presents the gospel on a weekly basis. By doing this, he/she creates a psychological agreement with the students so they know that anytime they bring their unsaved friends, they will hear the gospel. This gives them a chance to share with them after the meeting. This information was copied from www.eteamrevolution.com On role information CLICK here. |
