| The
Part-Human: We deny our bodily
desires (by dieting, practicing abstinence etc) because humans hate to
admit they are animals. We want to become as inorganic as possible, to
deny our bodies in order to elevate our mind. I wish away my body so as
not to be identified, so as not to be vulnerable. Why do we have so many
myths and stories of machines wishing to become human, when it is humans
who desire to be more like machine? Efficiency, productivity. These are
the things we idealize. We hope to be machines.
The aliens who observe us with their spy technology in obscure places in the universe probably see us as nothing but glorified beasts. |
