West Farthing: The Morning
Sam~ The day was drawing on, nearly reaching midday. Sam's stomach was growling, asking for food. It had been more than an hour since second breakfast. He thought about stopping now to go eat, but decided against it. He was on his knees in the flower patch, searching for any little weed poking their heads out. He found two, and carefully reached his hand down and plucked them out, roots and all. He then stood up, a satisfied grin on his face. Looking down at his trousers, he saw they were muddy, as would be expected from a gardener on an early spring day. He looked around trying to decide what to do next.
Frodo~ Frodo stepped out to find Sam and tell him Elevenses was ready. "Sam! c'mere! It's time to eat!! Hurry before it gets cold!" called Frodo. "It's your favorite! Biscuits and tea!" He stepped back inside Bag End to set out the biscuits. "Mmm.." he sighed, taking a whiff of the freshly baked biscuits and took the jar of honey off of the shelf. "Sam! Last call or all these delicious biscuits are gone!" teased Frodo. He sat down at the table and served himself a biscuit, spread some honey on it and took a bite. "Yum. Biscuits always taste good on fresh a fall morning." He sipped his tea slowly, waiting for Sam to join him.
Sam~ Sam gets up brushes his off his trousers and walks into the house. Then says "Now Mr. Frodo don't eat all the biscuits! I'm hungry too!" Then he sits down, butters a buscuit and takes a big bite.
Frodo~ "Now, don't fret, I left you 5! I'm only eating 3 because I know they are your favorite!" "What should we do today, let's see...." Between mouthfuls, Frodo manages to say, "Well, I guess I'll clean a little bit around the house, more tea?" and pours himself another cup of tea. "I'll find something for luncheon while I'm inside cleaning, I suppose. What will you be doing?" he asked Sam.
Sam~ Sam eats another biscuit and then says "There is a lot of work to do outside it should keep me busy" Then he eats another biscuit and has some more tea.
Frodo~ "Yes, that's true, so I believe I'll stay busy inside, and you outside." He takes a sip of tea, thinking of which of the numerous rooms to clean first. "Let's see, there's the bedrooms, the entry, oh my, lots of things to clean. We shall be busy indeed!"
Sam~ Sam finishes up his meal and heads outside to work then he says to himself"What to do first?"then keeps on talking and gets to work.
Frodo~ "Ah! I know what I'll clean first! " Frodo said to himself as he took the dishes to the sink and filled it with water and suds. He chuckled. "At the rate we dirty dishes around here, we'll have to keep an extra set on hand for when the other set is dirty!" Frodo set out to scrubbing the dishes, rolling up his sleeves and slipping his arms into the warm water and suds. He heard Sam humming merrily and decided to join in. Frodo started to softly sing a familiar tune, one Gandalf frequently hums. "The road goes ever on and on, Down from the door where it began.... " He finished washing the dishes, he dried them, and put them away. Frodo walked to the pantry and got out some bread, meat and cheese and some pickles for luncheon, and for dessert he put out some raspberry tarts. He wiped up the crumbs from the biscuits, and set out the things he picked for luncheon on the table. Frodo then went into the entry and tidied up the walking sticks and cloaks and put them away. He then went to the extra bedrooms and living room, dusted and polished the furniture and put away maps that Bilbo had left out. "Tsk, Bilbo, I don't know what I'm going to do with you! Leaving your maps out all over," he sighed. "I'll just have to find something he can keep his maps sorted and put away in," He put his hands on his hips and examined the room "Now, that's looking a lot better!" he smiled. "Let's see, I think I'll wash the windows now, I do need to go out and get some fresh air and sunshine!" Frodo then proceded outside with a pail of soapy water and some washrags.
