Valeria was the first of the three islands that was found and settled by the surface dwellers. Unknown to them, the caverns beneath the island had already been claimed. I group of followers of Shaylock had discovered the island hundreds of years before. They were refugees from the final battle, they had fled when it was obvious Shaylock was going to be defeated.,
There are 2 major cities on the island, and a fair number of smaller communites. The island itself is divided into a number of sections ruled by local lords and ladies, but each owing allegence to a major government on one of the mainlands. The Children of the Light have even managed to gain a foothold on the undworlds capital beneath the island.
Increasingly, the inhabitants of the island have drawn together to deal with problem, both natural and social. The major powers that are supposed to protect them have not done a very good job of late. Rumors abound of all 3 islands spliting away and forming there own nation. Individually, they do not have enough power to pull such a move, but were they to find some kind of assistance....... |
