| The Black Mantle is a powerful treasure designed for the express purpose of keeping people captive. In its natural state, it resembles a long black cloak. However, when its owner shouts a key word and spends a point of Glamour, of their choosing, it transforms, grappling with whomever it touches in an attempt to keep them tightly bound. The Mantle immdiately begins to engage in a resisted Strength roll with the its target (both have difficulty 6). The Mantle has 6 Strength, and begins with one free success. For each success past the first, Strength and Dexterity are temporarily -1. If the target ever reaches 0 Strength or Dexterity, they are held fast and cannot move. If the target reduces the Mantle's successes to 0, they are freed, and the Mantle flutters uselessly to the ground. Held targets remain so until the owner utters a second command word. |
