GLIMMERS
Back to the Kiths
Designer: Ben Roffey
Small and weak, Glimmers are a lesser-known kith from Europe, reknowned more for where they aren't seen then from where they are. Embodiments of stealth and quiet, glimmers, shy creatures by nature, are quiet and reserved, and always do their best to avoid sources of conflict. In these turbulent times, that includes most other fae, and so glimmers hide amongst the cracks of society, quietly making their way through the hidden places of the world.
Appearance
Glimmers are small in stature, rarely growing much past five feet, even in their mortal forms. They have dark gray skin and jet-black eyes, with white centres instead of black. Their ears are slightly pointed, and they favour dark colours over flashy clothing.
Seemings
     -
Childings are explorers, the shy child in the corner who seems to know all the best hiding places, and who never gets found when she doesn't want to be. Loners by nature, Childling glimmers are notable for their quiet - they lack the frenetic energy apparant in most youngsters.
     -
Wilders tend to live amongst people, as they begin to crave contact. Despite this, they remain loners by nature, the person who is always at the edge of the crowd, but never inside it.
     -
Grumps are reclusive, even by Glimmer standards. Most of them hermits or similar types, Grump glimmers withdraw entirely from the human world, emerging only when absolutely necessary, and avoiding contact with others as much as possible.
Affinity
    Nature

Birthrights

- Ghostly Form - All glimmers possess the natural ability to become invisible. By spending a point of Glamour, glimmers can render themselves unseen and unheard to all for a period of one hour. If unenchanted are watching, the glimmer must succeed in a contested Glamour roll against the highest banality present to become invisible. The glimmer can still be smelt and touched normally. Finally, because a glimmer's power lies in stealth, no overt actions can be taken by the glimmer while invisible, or they immediately re-appear.
     -
Cat's Paws - All glimmers are naturally quiet. This is represented as a free dot of Stealth, which can bring their total up to six. This dot does not count for experience purposes.
Glimmers cannot botch Stealth rolls.
Frailty
    - Frail - Glimmers are extremely weak. All Strength points cost double normal to purchase, and no Glimmer can ever have a Strength rating above 3.
Quote
"The world is complicated enough without adding another layer to the mix. Stay quiet, stay out of the way, and no one will seek to destroy you."
Relations with Others
    Infrequent.
Seriously, though, glimmers do interact with other kiths, and with the occasional Prodigal, from time to time. For the most part, their studied neutrality means that they have fairly unimpressive relations. There are, however, a few kiths that deserve special note for glimmer relations.

Redcaps - It should go without saying that glimmers loathe redcaps. Brutal, blunt, and loud, redcaps are the antithesis of what makes a glimmer happy. However, since glimmers can't do much about the 'caps, they simply stay out of their way. More than any other kith, redcaps don't know that the glimmers exist.
Sluagh - Alone among the major kithain, glimmers enjoy interacting with the sluagh. That kith understands how and why the glimmers live solitary lives, and can be quiet and enjoyable friends. Further, between a sluagh's contacts and a glimmer's natural stealth, a partnership between the two kiths can be extremely profitable.
