DROICHAN
Quite possibly one of the stranger groups of Dauntain in the world, as well as one of the smallest, the Droichan are a special sort of fae who harness Banality to their own purposes. The result is that Droichan gain an amazing amount of power, including near-immortality, but lose the ability to gain Glamour, except through a special form of Ravaging other fae. Droichan are not easily detectable by other fae - they tend to have lower Banality ratings than most Dauntain. They are powerful and dangerous foes.
Appearance On the surface, a droichan doesn't look much different from a normal changeling. However, their hair colour will become black, regardless of what it was before they became a droichan. Many droichan favour dark colors, but some hide in plain sight, using flashy clothing to disguise their inner darkness.
Powers Droichan have a wide variety of powers that they can access. However, they do NOT have access to any of the normal Dauntain Agendas, although they can occasionally develop Stigmas. A Droichan is not a Dauntain for their connection to Banality so much as for their severing from the Dreaming. Glamour Rape By focusing their power, a Dauntain can steal Temporary Glamour from a changeling or chimera. Doing so requires a Willpower roll, and to hold tight to the target. If they realize what's happening (a Kenning roll, difficulty 8, will warn them) they can roll Willpower to resist. If the Dauntain is successful, they gain 1 Glamour for every success, and the target loses 1 Glamour. The target cannot lose more temporary Glamour than they have, and the Droichan cannot gain it. Droichan can always hold 10 temporary Glamour, regardless of their Permanent Glamour rating. Dark Shadow Droichan are creatures of shadow, and have control of their own shadows. A droichan's shadow can take the form of either a monstrous dog or a small flock of black ravens (choose one). This creature is fairly intelligent and will follow the Droichan. If killed, it cannot return for 1 day. Calling the creature requires 1 point of Glamour. It has all the same stats as the Dauntain, except for an Appearance of 0. The creature can divide into smaller creatures, but each extra creature created causes the dividing of all attributes and abilities by the total number of creatures. Everything is rounded up except Glamour. The creatures must have a Glamour score of at least 1. Dreaming Disconnection Droichan are not part of the Dreaming any longer. They do not suffer from their original kith Frailty. Immortal Droichan are nearly immortal. A droichan heals one health level of bashing damage every minute, one of lethal every hour, and one aggravated every day, even if dead. Furthermore, they rarely suffer from diseases. Droichan gain no extra advantages from healing in a freehold.
Weaknesses Being a droichan isin't all it's cracked up to be, though. Droichan suffer from a wide variety of flaws, which are not all easily rectified. Reft from the Dreaming Droichan are not part of the Dreaming in any meaningful way. A droichan is unable to Muse, Ravage, Rhapsodize, attain Reverie, or gain Glamour by any natural means. Dreaming Disconnection Droichan are not fully connected to the Dreaming. Because of this, whichever of their Frailties is less physical is lost. (Troll Stubborness, Redcap Bully Browbeat, etc). Glamour Drain Every day, droichan lose a point of temporary Glamour. If a droichan runs out of Glamour, they lose one health level per day, which heals automatically at a rate of one level per point of Glamour gained. If a droichan loses all her health levels from this, she dies forever. Her soul will not re-incarnate, and nothing can bring her shade back. Heart of Gold Droichan place the essence of their humanity in a physical creation, which is the source of their immortality. A droichan must enact a rite over the heart at every full moon. If she fails, she will lose one Permanent Glamour per day until she runs out, at which point she dies. If the heart is destroyed, the droichan crumbles to dust in seconds.
