| September 16, 2003 Babson Park, 4 pm kickoff Webber 0 - Flagler 4 Having the 3rd Ranked team in the country visiting had the Webber team a little fired up. Inside first 15 minutes we had about 6 chances to score but no numbers on the scoreboard. An awful first half ended with Tucker scoring from close range. 1-0. Coach Lynch gave the blowdryer speech at halftime, think you can walk on the field and not work. The dryer speech was effective and we stepped on the field, led by Niall McGuirk, and tore them apart. Zola took advantage of poor defending and slotted home the second shortly after the interval. Then for a long time we had several good chances to score but did not put em away. Coach was concerned about the Longo points and he found his saviour in Scott Herlihy who bagged home the remaining two goals for maximum Longo's. Good to see Pete Young back in goals and ofcourse his dad put his thumbs up for the shutout. So a comfortable 4-0 win to start off the five game road streak resulted in a fancy meal at the foodcourt in the Mall. Thanks Coach!! Man of the Match: Again it was hard to pick out one outstanding performance. Johan had a good game, Pete Young was flawless, and Herlihy scored the goals. Also Zola turned the defenders around in circles on several occasion. Play of the day: A 60 yard sprint down the middle from Uncle Denis in the first half. That was very cool!! |
