Flagler Field, 9pm kickoff

Flagler College 1 - Embry Riddle 1
As always, northeast Florida's biggest rivalry provided a thrilling match of soccer. It was a playoff type atmosphere with loud chanting hooligans. Our game followed a great 3-0 win over Riddle for Coach Scott and the girls, so the crowd was already warmed up and ready to go. Speaking of people in the bleachers. They didn't go unnoticed, former Flagler captain Donny This accompanied by his lovely wife Jill made an unexpected appearance, well we all knew Jill was gonna be there, but I thought Donny had better things to do? Anyway, I'm glad he could make it. Good to see Matthew James Johnson at the game too. Agent Johnson was in town on bizness.

Now about the game itself. Scoreless at halftime courtesy of strong defending from our back four. Brandon and Denny both contained their marks, and Niall was all over the place as well, and Stalin took care of everything else. Zola filled in for suspended glamor-lad Johan Carlsson in the middle of the park. Jorgen and Pete started up front but were later replaced by Steve and Scott.

After few minutes in the second half it was a 0-1 Riddle lead. Their goal was followed by a world-cup winning celebration. Fortunately it took us only minutes to level the game. Sean Frye out-paced his marker (not for the first time that night), and ran onto what I can only describe as an "attempted shot" and he hit the ball one touch clinically past the keep for the equaliser. Mad joy for us. After that the goals were locked and the key thrown away. A lot more minutes were played but no goals. So after normal time and double overtime the game ended 1-1. At the end of the day is was a conference title for them, cold Domino's pizzas for us. Enjoy lads.

Man of the Match: We all played well but no one better than right midfielder Sean Frye. His tireless work and magical skills earned him a praise from Coach, while the girls couldn't hold back their admiration for the Abercrombie Man. Great goal as well, but one may wonder if he got on the scoresheet elsewhere that night. I doubt it.

Play of the Day: Jordan Holtz and AJ Martin sprinting with the water cooler. They made it to our bench with the 55 gallon cooler filled with icecold water right before the overtime kickoff. Never seen so much H20 committment since Bobby Boucher. You can mess with them, but don't mess with their water. Good work there boys.
