Friland

Friland is the only country in Europe that has preserved its original faith. This religion is called "Ferna Sed" (the ancient tradition) and has strong similarities with the native religions of North-western Europe, which disappeared during the Middle Ages when the people there were converted to Christendom.
Through the centuries conversion attempts by Hiveria have resulted in a Christian minority in Friland. Later, during the Reformation, most of these people converted to Protestantism but the Irish-Frilandic minority in South Walamark mainly stayed Catholic. In the big cities there is also a small number of supporters of Judaism.
Although Ferna Sed is the official state religion there is freedom of religion. However, to prevent religious conversion urges, there is an "active conversion prohibition". This was created in the 16th century and states that everyone is free to choose his or her religion, as long as no active attempt is made to convert others. So it is not allowed to ring people's doorbells with a Bible under your arm and attempt to convert them. People who enter a house of prayer out of their own free will however, may be informed about the religion that is practiced there.

Hiveria

The most important religions in Hiveria are Catholicism and Islam. Until the 80's Catholicism was the only religion that was allowed in Hiveria but these days there is freedom of religion, although many religions are still actively opposed: this especially counts for Ferna Sed, the faith of the Frilandic minority in Solaria, and Protestantism, the faith of most English speakers in Hiveria. A dominant role in society is played by Catholicism and Islam, the first because this has always been the state religion and the second because it has become firmly rooted in Hiverian society since the 80's.
