Friland

The Frilandic media are known for their lack of censorship: course words, sex and violence are therefore not barred from most channels. Another remarkable fact is the near absence of call TV and the high number of documentaries and current affairs programmes. Hereunder are the most important media.

Newspapers
  • Þa Frija Tidung ("The Free Tiding"): much read because of its objectivity en available in multiple languages.
  • Algamain Neujasblad ("Common News Magazine"): critical newspaper that aims at the progressive citizen.
  • Weraldstidung ("World Tiding"): traditional newspaper that aims at the conservative citizen.
  • Geldwihtsmer ("Financial Message"): newspaper with economic news for businessmen.
  • Skreg Neujas ("Bizarre News"): weird, funny and remarkable news in one newspaper.
  • Þeudiska Pres ("National Press"): patriotic daily paper that brings news from a Frilandic perspective.
  • Metskapaliska Airund ("Socialist Message"): politically engaged newspaper that wants to add a left-winged voice to conservative Friland.
  • Klak and Laiþblaiþ ("Gossip and Gloating"): juicy gossip about celebrities and the latest news about explosions, accidents and bloodbaths anywhere in the world.
  • Þroþsblad ("Sport magazine"): news magazine that is specifically aimed at sport and everything related to it.

    Radio
  • Alland Utwerp ("International Radio"): Frilandic radio transmitter that can be received all over the world. Provides objective news in, amongst other languages, English, French, Spanish, Russian, Chinese and of course Frilandic.
  • Riksgawiska Utwerp ("Riksgawian Radio"): originally a local radio transmitter from Riksga but these days it can be received in all of Friland and beyond.
  • Utwerp 7 ("Radio 7"): this transmitter provides news, weather, sport and music.

    Television
  • Nat 1 ("Net 1"): the state channel on which news, education and informative programmes are being broadcasted.
  • Upen Neujassandjar ("Open News Channel"): news channel with a religious character (Ferna Sed), which thoroughly reports about important celebrations like Midsummer and Yule each year.
  • Fersehwar Dunwik ("Television Dunwik"): scientific channel that informs the people about the latest technological developments.

    Internet
  • Hlenkreht ("Leftright"): news blog that offers a platform to both left and right wing opinions, trying to create a more balanced media landscape (www.hlenkreht.fl).
  • Unsa Spegel ("Our Mirror"): progressive news site with a critical view on Frilandic society (www.unsaspegel.fl).
  • Þa Huljagar ("The Terrier"): conservative news blog that focuses on young people (www.huljagar.fl).

    Streaming
  • Swistr (derived from "SwiftStraum"=SwiftStream): streaming service offering both its own productions and foreign content.



    Hiveria

    The Hiverian media use a "broadcasting code", which bans the broadcasting of violence, sex and course words. Violent computer games are forbidden and political programmes have to be approved by a "commission of wise men", which decides whether the content of the programme is politically correct enough. The common language is standard French, although there are also media in English, Spanish, Arabic and in the country's many dialects.
            The majority of the newspapers, radio transmitters and television channels are part of Canal Collignon, the media company of president Collignon. Hereunder are the most important media.

    Newspapers
  • Courant National ("National Newspaper"): the propaganda paper of president Collignon, which is always exceptionally positive about him.
  • Le Journal d'Hiveria ("The Hiverian Journal"): business paper with lots of information about the stock markets.
  • La Gazette Nouveau ("The New Gazette"): objective newspaper that was one of the few that managed not to be taken over by Canal Collignon.

    Radio
  • La Vérité ("The Truth"): radio transmitter that is part of Canal Collignon.
  • Shahaadah ("Testimony"): Islamic radio transmitter with news from the Middle East and readings from the Koran.
  • Radio Heunia ("Radio Heunia"): music transmitter with lots of pop music, rap, R&B and Hiverian chansons.

    Television
  • Programme National ("National Programme"): the state channel with the daily speech of the president and the news.
  • Beth-El ("House of God"): Christian channel with fund-raising drives for the third world, TV evangelists and hymns.
  • Émetteur Libre ("Free Channel"): objective programmes that are broadcasted from a secret location.

    Internet
  • Nouvelles du Monde ("World News"): online newspaper that is based in Ireland to evade Hiverian censorship (www.ndm.hiv).
  • Le Salon ("The Salon"): progressive online newspaper that considers itself "quality media". Part of Canal Collignon (www.salon.hiv).
  • Journal Effronté ("Cheeky Journal"): conservative news blog that is known for its direct, sometimes bold, way of interviewing (www.journaleffronte.hiv).
