![]() ![]() General informationWhat is Friland? Friland is an archipelago west of the British isles and south of Iceland. On this archipelago the countries Friland and Hiveria are located, which are eachothers opposites on almost every terrain. Friland is a peculiar country with a conservative, isolationist character, where language, culture and traditions haven't changed much since the Iron Age. Many of the major changes in European history have passed Friland, as a result of which the country has retained many features that, elsewhere, have been gone for centuries. Hiveria on the other hand, is a globalised country where there is little regard for traditions and everything new is seen as something positive. Due to the many sharp contrasts and historical conflicts, a cold war has been going on between Friland and Hiveria for centuries, which has already escalated several times in the past. There is no place on earth where the old and the new world are colliding so directly as here. ![]() Summary of Friland Friland was founded in the Iron Age after a tribe from Scandinavia discovered these islands and settled there. The Frilanders speak a very old language, use runic writing and believe in multiple gods. Their society has an ancient, tribal origin. At the same time the country with its big cities, motorways and scientific research is just as developed as other Western European countries. Summary of Hiveria Hiveria was founded in the Middle Ages after a Norman invasion of Friland (see history) and since then both countries live on the brink of war with eachother. French is the most important language of Hiveria, followed by English, Arabic and Spanish. The country is a multicultural society and the Hiverians are very proud of their cultural diversity. ![]() |
