Romance

Disclaimer: I don’t own anyone. This is kinda my take on London – except I’ve changed everything. I do want it to be a Chandler and Monica fic, though! This is set sometime during the episode TOW All the Haste, at the end of series four. I don’t know why I felt the need to write this. I’m home by myself and I’m meant to be doing coursework – ick!<O:P</O:P

"We’re getting married!" Ross yelled, happily. Emily jumped up and down behind him, and the two of them hugged and kissed as if there was no tomorrow. The others didn’t know what to say. Four people were thrilled, but were afraid to say so.

The last member of their gang was absent. She was in her room, listening to all the commotion. She knew what she thought of Ross and Emily’s engagement – she thought it was a great idea. She had introduced them, for Christ’s sake! Why would she be unhappy? Yeah, she’d dated Ross – two years ago, and those feelings of love that had resurfaced a few months ago were now well and truly dead and buried. She made her entrance into the apartment.

"Rachel, we’re engaged!" Emily cried, her British accent strong as ever.

"Congratulations! I’m so happy for you, Emily – and you, Ross, you both deserve it," Rachel replied, truthfully. She walked over to Monica.

"Rache?" asked Monica, anxiously. "You okay?"

"Yeah, I’m happy for them, Monica. I promise you, I will be the happiest person there on their wedding day," she told her best friend. That was all Monica, Joey, Phoebe and Chandler needed. They went mad, jumping up and down happily.

"Yay!" the six-months-pregnant Phoebe screeched. "You’re getting married, yay!"

"Why?" asked Monica. "I-I mean, it’s great, it’s just that, you’ve only known each other for, what, six weeks?" Ross nodded.

"We, we, uh, just wanted to go for it," he explained.

"It was that or hardly ever see each other," Emily added. "And, well, marriage is the best option."

Phoebe looked up. "Hey, are you pregnant, too? Your aura’s all – floopy." She had babies on the mind lately.

Emily blushed. "Well, actually, this wasn’t how I wanted to tell everyone, but yes!" she burst out.

Ross looked shocked. "A-a-a-a-a baby?" he managed to croak. His fiancée nodded. "Oh, Emily!" They hugged and kissed; they were the happiest couple on Earth.

Monica sighed. Ross was having what she wanted. Again. The lucky devil – at that moment, Monica was insanely jealous of her brother. She fingered the wedding invitation and sighed again[u1] .

"What do you want to order, Monica?" Gunther asked. She jolted out of her jealousies.

"Sorry, Gunther," she replied. "What did you say?"

"What do you want to order?" he repeated, patiently.

"Oh, uh, latte, I guess," she said in a daze. He gave her the drink and she handed over three dollar fifty. She went to join Rachel, Phoebe and Emily on the couch. Emily and Phoebe were discussing morning sickness, with Rachel looking mildly revolted.

"You got your invite, Monica?" Rachel queried, looking glad for an excuse to change the subject.

"Uh-huh. I can’t wait to see London!" Monica enthused. She couldn’t believe Ross was getting married in London. London, in England! He was so lucky. Ugh, she hated him.

"Wait!" Rachel cried suddenly, digging in her purse for her planner. "No. You can’t get married on the 17th May!"

"Why not?" Emily asked.

"Cos – aw, crap – that’s the day I have the big conference, it’s been planned for, like, six months, and I can’t miss it!" she wailed.

"Hey, you can stay here with me!" Phoebe said brightly. Emily gave her a questioning look. "I can’t fly in my third trimester," she elaborated.

"Just you and me, then, Monica," Emily said, linking arms with Monica.

"Yep," Monica answered, gritting her teeth. She gave a little start when Emily jumped up.

"Sorry, I need to be sick," she explained, before hurrying off.

"Yeah, pregnancy sucks all right," agreed Phoebe.

Four weeks later, Monica was sitting next to Chandler on a plane to London. Joey hadn’t been able to get a seat near them, and Ross and Emily had left several days before. Jack and Judy Gellar were sitting two rows away from them.

After five hours, Chandler noticed that Monica was being unusually quiet. "What’s the matter?" asked Chandler.

"I, uh, nothing," Monica lied.

"Monica, c’mon, you can tell me anything."

"Seriously? Okay, my brother’s getting married for the second time; his fiancée is pregnant with his second child; my mom just spent three hours telling me how I should get married; and I don’t even have a boyfriend!" wailed the unhappy Monica.

Chandler’s reply was to hold her close. "You are so hot, any guy would be lucky to have ya," he comforted her. He accompanied it with a kiss on the forehead, which soon became a kiss on the lips. Monica gasped as she felt Chandler’s lips on hers, and she was surprised to find that she was enjoying it. As he started to pull away, she put her hands around his neck.

"Wow…" she breathed. "You’re one hell of a kisser."

"No, no, we-we shouldn’t do this," Chandler began. He stopped himself. "Oh, screw that, c’mere." He kissed her again, harder this time.

"This plane is about to land in Heathrow, please put on your seatbelts," came the voice of the captain. "It is currently five-thirty p.m. and the outside temperature is twelve degrees Celsius."

There was a small bump, and the doors opened. As they walked down the walkway into the airport, Chandler put his arm around Monica. "When we get to the hotel, your room or mine?"

"Mine, cos you’re sharing with Joey," Monica decided. "And, well, I don’t want to do stuff with Joey watching us."

"Good, cos otherwise you’d be a porn star," Chandler laughed. At this point, Joey and the Gellars caught up with them.

"Monica, I do wish you’d do something with your hair," Judy whined. After a five-hour flight, she was crabbier than usual.

"At least they’re not staying at our hotel," Joey whispered. The three friends took a separate taxi to Jack and Judy, and soon arrived at their hotel. Chandler dumped his bags, and left for Monica’s room.

"Where you going, man?" Joey enquired, catching up with him in a corridor.

"Uh, uh, I’m going to see how Monica’s settling in," Chandler faltered.

"Oh, great, I’ll come with you!" Joey said.

"No, no, you don’t wanna do that," Chandler babbled. "I mean, Monica’s really upset, cos Ross is getting married and having a baby and she doesn’t have any of that, and anyway, I heard there was a porn channel in our room—" There was no need to go further. Joey was off.

Chandler knocked on the door, and took Monica in his arms. "Oh," she gasped as he kissed her.

"Yeah, baby!" Chandler replied, smiling. He turned back the covers of the bed, and Monica leapt in after him.

So, what do you think? Review it please! It will be continued, I’m going to make it a series. And this doesn’t mean I’ve forgotten The Early Years, I’ll continue that as well!
