NFFL Rules
Trading deadline is Kickoff Week 13. No exceptions. Any trade after this time will not take affect till the following year.
Trades- All trades must be verified by a third party owner. To have the player activated for a certain week, the trade has to be completed and verified(by third party) before kickoff that week. The commissioner must be notified A.S.A.P., but not neccessarily before kickoff. We're all adults here and should be able to trust one another in matters relating to the validity of a trade.
Line-ups- Line-ups must be handed to your opponent before kickoff that week. Failing this, another owner will suffice. The line-up should be giving directly to another person where possible as to rule out any problems later. However, we are sometimes forced to rely on an answering machine, e-mail or family members to submit our line-ups. This can not be avoided, but could give us problems in the future. The submitting team is liable for getting his/her line-up to their opponent. It is recommended that you submit your line-up as early as possible and make adjustments closer to kickoff as neccessary.
Scores- Scores should be handed in no later than Thurs. This gives owners a chance to go over indescrepancies before the commissioner adjusts the standings. Any one failing to submit their scores before Thurs. following the games, will forfeit their Scores and receive 0 points.
When a team decides to forfeit a season, all control of the weekly line-ups transfers to the commissioner. The Commissioner will then set the team's weekly line up using the FF Today website. FF Today publishes a weekly statistical ranking of each player at each position for the upcoming week. The forfeiting team’s lineup will consist of the highest ranked players (according to FF Today). Players, who are listed on the injury report for that week, will not be used in the line-up. If a player shows up on the injury report, then the next highest ranked player at his position that is not on the injury report will used instead. Any player being injured during pre-game or announced that he will be out during pre-game information outlets (pre-games shows, websites, etc.) will not be taken out of the line-up if that player was slated to be used. The forfeiting team shall announce his intention to forfeit to the Commissioner by 9:00 pm on Saturday prior to that week’s games. This is to allow the Commissioner time to set up the line up through FF Today for the upcoming games. If a team misses the deadline on Saturday, and a suspect line-up is given for the games on Sunday, the Commissioner will choose three owners with no immediate interest in the outcome to vote on the suspect line-up. If it is voted that the team in question had submitted a line-up with the intention of unofficially forfeiting, the Commissioner will submit a line-up via FF Today. We are all adults and should be able to play by the written and unwritten rules, so this rule, I suspect is unnecessary. Any line-up inserted due to the rule is retroactive to the week in question. Standings will be modified as necessary. Once the forfeiting team has declared his intentions, the team will officially only accrue losses, but no wins or ties until the end of the season. The opponents of these teams must beat the line-up from FF Today to earn the win. Ties are still Ties and Losses are Losses. During mini tournament weeks, the forfeited team’s owner may submit a separate line-up from the FF Today line-up. The second line-up is used strictly for mini tournament points. This is to provide the team control over the ability to make prize money during tournaments. Therefore, failing to collect prize money falls on the shoulders of the team not FF Today or the Commissioner. During mini tournaments, opponents must still face the FF Today line-up. If the FF Today should fail to provide this service for any reason, rankings will be manually collected using the NFL.com stats databank, year to date. Stats will be ranked as follows; QB - TD passes (YTD) DL- Sacks (YTD) WR – Yards rec’d (YTD) LB – Tackles (YTD) RB – Yards rushed (YTD) DB - Tackles (YTD) TE – Yards rec’d (YTD) K – Points made (YTD) (FGs and EPs) Teams – Best record to date (in case of a tie, the teams facing the lower ranked team that week) All players/teams on “bye” weeks will be automatically omitted from ranking. We may want to ask which stat data should be used instead for each position (i.e. most owners may think QB Yards Passed is more important than the TD’s passed).
