For 2007 I'm doubling my Light-O-Rama system so I have 64 channels to work with. I just finished resequencing my first piece, Christmas Eve Sarajevo by TSO.

At first I thought I would completely redo it from the ground up, but realized most of the timings could be used from the 32 channel version I had last year. Why go to the extra trouble (and waste valuable time) when I could just edit the timings that needed help?

I added two 16 channel controllers to the grid and assigned the channel names and colors based on my written plan for my yard. With more controllers, I will use fewer extension cords, but I will have to rebalance the loads to keep from blowing circuits. Since most of my display items are on different channels, I felt it was easier to use a second monitor to view the smaller arrangement next to my new one. This helped to keep from flipping back and forth between windows.

Rather than copy from the old grid to the new one, I just used it as a reference. I am changing enough about the display that copying just wouldn't do it for me. Also, I was able to make sure nothing is using 100% power except for the LEDs. Icicles are the largest power consumer I have on a single channel, I so set them to 65%. I thought they were too dim on 50% last year and 65% won't use too much more power. All other lights use 85% as the maximum since there is no appreciable visual difference between that and 100% but the power savings is pretty good.

It took about a week to get this all done (well more like two weeks, but I'm not counting the days I spent doing other projects). Now that I have the LOR software setup for 64 channels it should take less time for the other music. I also need to start on Halloween music, but I don't have 64 channels of Halloween items to sequence, so I'll just be moving tracks around based on where the props are in the yard.
