Family Readiness Group Weekly Update, Cluster III
Ft. Sam Houston, TX

24 May 2004

Hello Ladies and crew

Another couple of weeks flown by and Memorial Day is almost upon us. A lot has happen since you received our last newsletter. To start off, we took a physical training (PT) test last week. SFC Michael Brownfield led the way scoring 299 out of 300 points. As a group our overall average score was around 240 points. To get a better indication of how well this Battalion did the standard score is 180 points. LTC Allison had nothing but praise for the effort of our combined average score. On June 17 we will take another PT test for record. We are all working diligently five days a week to increase this average.

A huge congratulation goes to Mr. Kent Martin, who was pinned 20th May 2004 as Chief Warrant Officer (CW2) Martin. CW2 Martin represents the leadership, knowledge, and determination expected from a 129th Warrant Officer. His loyalty, and, charismatic approach to his peers and soldiers has made the transition to active duty very easy for all of us at Cluster 3 HQ. Next weeks newsletter will have pictures of CW2 accomplishment.

SGT Bobby Smith who was gone the past four weeks for Supply NCO School rejoined our team on Monday May 17th. He is now a fully qualified Supply Sergeant. SFC Clapper is glad to have his only assistant back.

As for the weather changes; it is getting a little warmer. It always seems cloudy, but the temperature is up around 90 degrees everyday. At least it is not raining as much on weekends anymore.

I don't have much more to add to this weeks' letter. I know a lot of us are planning on coming home this weekend. All of us down here greatly appreciate the sacrifice you are making for us. I sometimes think it's kind of ironic to be called a hero, when all of us military soldiers know our heroes are back home taking care of the children, ensuring all the bills are paid, and encouraging us through letters, care packages, and phone calls. From all of us at Cluster 3 HQ, Thank you, and God Bless.

Respectfully,
2LT Chris Owens
BN Assistant S1
