Family Readiness Group Weekly Update, Cluster III
Ft. Sam Houston, TX

9 April 2004

Hello Ladies and crew

Here are some of the events that have been and are going on with the troops of Ft. Sam Houston.

Travel to the Mobilization Station at Ft. Riley Kansas: We started off on the wrong foot when CPT Bennett decided to go down the wrong road in Kansas City. Fortunately he left in such a hurry that most of us were too far behind and the rest of us took the right road. Ft. Riley was fun until we went through the beltline. Some of us received shots, we all waited in long lines, and some how all of us artillery soldiers passed the hearing test. Everyone made it through the beltline including the most important part or the beltline the financial section. As of right now there are no known pay issues. So if your husband/boyfriend says he has not been paid feel free to give him a call.

Travel down to warm San Antonio TX: It was a long but fun trip. CPT Bennett did not get too lost. Day 1 took us about eight hours to get to Ft. Worth, TX where we spent the night in a motel. On the 22nd we traveled approximately four hours to San Antonio TX. I am happy to report that everyone made it down here with 100% accountability and no accidents or incidents (except getting a little lost at the end, again thanks to CPT Bennett).

The past few weeks: We took over for the 160th FA on 31 March performing a left seat right seat mentorship. We worked with our counterparts and learned how to do their duties during the first week. The second week they basically watched over us and answered any questions we had. On 8 April the 160th FA left for the Demobilization Station giving us full control of Cluster III operations. This past week we have been putting in long hours to get everything organized and up to 129th standards. Everyone has been doing an outstanding job and I accredit you at home for giving us your full support.

The following are pictures taken at the 160th / 129th change of command ceremony.

I know this is short, but as time passes we will have more detailed letters to send. Hope everyone has a nice Easter weekend. If you would like further information dont hesitate to contact CPT Bennett or myself at [email protected]

Thank You,
Respectfully,
2LT Christopher Owens
Assistant S1
