Copyright Laura, grussell@net-port.com Chapter One Darkness enveloped the muscular body of a young and beautiful woman, and the woman cringed in emotions she rarely felt. The woman’s hands reached for her head and she screamed as she felt like her skull would explode. The woman’s body trembled as the pain eased and then started up again with a whole new strength. The darkness seemed to laugh at her as it fed from her fear, anger, and pain. The feelings of pain, anger, and despair enclosed its dirty hands around her heart, and the hands squeezed with such a desire, and her heart seemed to wither away as the hands squeezed the life out of her. The woman’s body trembled, and she screamed louder then ever with a screeching eerie sound. Her beautiful blond hair was frayed in all different directions as her hands moved through them. Her dark blue eyes held tears of agony and she cried out in defeat. Then a faint glow of a brilliant pale gold light that seemed to fill her body of euphoria and bliss, but the darkness tried to grab at the faint light and capture it. But the light kept getting brighter and a woman knelt beside the younger one. "My Sansai. My sweet Sansai, how much I longed to see you again." The woman stooped and she kissed Sansai on the cheek and smiled down at her. "You may not remember me, but that doesn’t matter. You must leave this planet and you must never return. There is great danger to you and the whole planet, and you are in grave danger, my dear." "From what? Who are you? Who is it that I flee from?" Sansai asked. She felt fortunate inside, and saw that the darkness was angrily trying to snap at her but the woman’s glow protected her from it. "I am Ajina, and as far as from what you flee from…well I cannot tell you for I fear that you will try and stop it. Your heart is made out of pure gold, but there is a great Darkness that hides inside. It will only appear when it is released and you will release it if you feed it." The woman caressed her hair, and her dark blue eyes that were identical to Sansai’s filled with meaning and hope. "What will feed it?" "The great Darkness is to be released when you are at the condition of great pain, great anger, and great despair. This darkness is trying to draw it out, and when it does the Darkness will conquer your body and use it. The Darkness will also destroy you and your body eventually and it will destroy this planet and the rest of the universe. You must listen to me! There isn’t much time. Leave this planet ad never return! There are evils here that will draw the Darkness out and everything will be doomed. Leave! And never return!" the woman spoke harshly, and she faded to a mist and the darkness trapped Sansai’s body once again. The misty figure went out but before her last two minutes were up, Sansai asked her a question. "I am ill, how can I leave when I can barely stay awake for an hour? I have a deadly disease called typhoid fever. It can kill! What do I do?" "You will overcome this disease…soon…very soon…within a day you shall start to heal and then you may return to your daily needs…but you must leave as quickly as you can…leave!" and the woman forever disappeared. Sansai woke up feverishly, and her breathing was greatly labored. Sansai looked wildly around and found Trunks sitting next to her with a damp washcloth in his hand. He gently dabbed it on her burning forehead and body, and then a worried looking Videl walked through her door closely followed by Gohan and Pan. Sansai coughed gruffly, and her back arched as her trembling body was filled with pain and heat. "How is she?" Videl asked Trunks. He shook his head and he sighed heavily. "Not too good. She was breathing more irregular, must’ve had a bad dream again. And she woke up screaming." Trunks dampened the washcloth. "A bad dream? She has one every time she closes her eyes, but she becomes calm after a while then back to a distressed state in her nightmares." Gohan said thoughtfully more to himself than to the others. Pan knelt beside her bedside in her orange pajamas. "It’s midnight and she still doesn’t look good. Its real nice of Trunks to stay up with her every night and still go to school and do everything." Pan swiped a wet strand from Sansai’s forehead. "Videl…" Sansai muttered trying her hardest to be conscious. Videl knocked Pan out of her way and whispered, "Yes?" "There was a woman in my dream…she said her name was Ajina…who is she? She told me that I knew her…" Pan got up looking hurt and rubbed her right arm where she landed on the fall. Videl looked very worried. "Honey, that was your mother. Ajina was a wise woman and she died bravely but there was nothing she could do. Even though she and your father was a pure blooded saiyan, nothing could have saved them from that attack." "She said I’d get better…soon…very soon…" Sansai was loosing consciousness. "Sansai…stay with me." Trunks held her hand. "You must stay with me. I am always here for you, and you know that...Sansai!" Trunks’ voice echoed inside her head as she went back into her endless sleep. He cares for me, he always has. She thought. The darkness didn’t come this time, but a happy scene appeared before her. She was on a green meadow filled with wild flowers, the sky was the color of forget-me-not blue, and a lake glistened in the sun on the right side and a huge oak tree towered over it. Sansai walked over to the oak tree to find Pan sitting on a trunk overlooking the lake. "Hello Pan." Sansai sat down beside her, and Pan looked up. She was fifteen now, with a chest and a brand new set of clothing. Her black hair was still wound up in her orange bandana, and she wore an orange shirt with blue jeans and she frowned at her. "You love Trunks don’t you?" Pan asked thoughtfully. "Yes, and he loves me. Why do you ask? Don’t you love Ubuu?" "Yes of course! But I always thought Trunks was cute…" Pan smiled at the thought. "But aww well. Ubuu matters more to me than Trunks." Sansai smiled and they stared at the lake not speaking to each other. Sansai somehow knew Pan never loved Trunks, and that she would never try and take him from her. Sansai also knew that Pan loved Ubuu dearly, and they already planned on getting married, and Sansai was grateful for that. Ajina’s prediction came true, by the end of three hours Sansai was healing from her sickness, and she looked quite healthy. Sansai was waking more often, and she had finally regained full consciousness when seven hours were fulfilled and she was able to walk around the house. "I thought you would never be any better!" Videl cried out and hugged her adopted daughter. "Videl, I will always pull through." Sansai replied and sat back smiling in her bed. She had gotten dressed, in her mini blue shirt and orange pants, and she sat cross-legged in her bed. "Well, we better get you back to school—" "Dad!" Pan exclaimed. "She just got back from the dead!" "Pan, I know but still. If she wants to be graduate by the end of this week then she better get back to school!" Gohan replied happily. "This week? But won’t I fail, I mean I’ve been sick for a month and a half?" Sansai stretched as she walked and got her bag ready for school. "Well I talked to the principal and she said that you already basically achieved a college degree when you were still healthy and that is how smart our daughter is!" Sansai paused as she put a literature book inside her orange bag and gazed out the window at the forest and the creek. Videl and Gohan adopted her after her real parents died in a surprise and deadly attack by evil minions of Dr. Gero, which Goku easily destroyed. Ajina and Zen were her biological parents, and they were pureblooded saiyans that makes her one too. She was only five when they had died, she lived with Bulma and Vegeta for a year that’s how she met Trunks and became real good friends with him. When she was six Videl and Gohan adopted her, and Pan was only four. Pan and Sansai repeatedly battled to become stronger and achieve super saiyan. None of them did. "Sansai? Are you alright?" Pan asked, breaking her thoughts. "Yes…yes I am. I’ll go to school right away and I’ll see what I can do about my grades. What time is it?" "Seven-thirty five." Videl replied glancing at her wristwatch. "You’ll have enough time to get to school, Pan is ready and she’ll go with you. Maybe if you leave now you’ll catch up with your friends and talk for a few minutes before the bell rings." "Alright. Come on Pan, I want to see Trunks for a few minutes." Pan grabbed her bag and Sansai opened a window and they jumped out to meet the fresh breeze. "Use the door next time!" Videl screeched as they flew off into the early morning sky. The morning air was fresh and filled with birds’ songs of sleepiness, and the sun peeked over treetops and its rays met the cool flesh of Pan and Sansai. Sansai smiled at the thought of seeing her Trunks, and how he would be so happy. And how Bra and Marron would be so excited to go shopping with her. She was hoping her and Pan could go back to training together that it was a lot of fun. Pan was babbling on about school and how she and Marron got kicked out of a mall for blasting a wall on accident because Marron scared the crap out of Pan. And she spoke of how she and Bra played with Goten’s mind, and how Ubuu got her roses every week, and how Goten was too shy to say ‘I love you’ to Bra, and how Ebisu (Marron’s boyfriend) bought Marron expensive jewels for her birthday. Then out of nowhere a Ki blast made of a blackish substance erupted from the trees’ tops and shot right at Sansai and Pan, missing Pan’s head by inches and barely missing Sansai’s chest and stomach. "Who did that?" Pan asked angrily. "I don’t know, it looks like it came from there." Sansai pointed to a densely patch of forest and a clearing next to it. "Let’s check it out." "But we’ll be late for school!" Pan protested. "I don’t care about school! I’m seeing what tried to hit us, are you coming?" Sansai didn’t wait for an answer and dove right into the clearing. She dropped her bag by her feet, and then searched for anybody’s presence. Nothing, She thought. Not a single reading. Sansai picked up her bag when Pan landed silently next to her. Sansai saw her search the area, and Pan glanced at Sansai awkwardly. "I know, not a single trace of any presence. Funny how I don’t see no animals either…and who would try and blast us out of the air? And it is funny how the Ki blast was made out of a blackish substance…" Sansai floated in the air and urged Pan to follow, and they headed towards the city. They reached the city not five minutes when a series of screams echoed on the streets, and bullets ricocheted on cars and walls, and police cars surrounded a bank. "Let’s check it out." Sansai replied Pan’s questioning look. They landed in the front of the building, barely missing the stray bullets. The police were shocked to see two small schoolgirls trying to save the day, and they called for them to clear the area and go to school. "We aren’t leaving!" Pan exclaimed, and another shower of bullets from the robbers sprayed over top their heads onto the police. "Get out of here!" replied a plump policeman angrily. "I said, we aren’t leaving." Pan replied, dismissing the thought of punching the face in of the policeman. "Come on Pan, let’s see what we got here." Sansai walked steadily closer to the main source of the shower of bullets. Pan watched as Sansai walked calmly to the masked robbers, and smirked at the thought of blowing them to pieces. Sansai smiled smoothly and bent all of the masked robbers’ guns into little metal pretzels in five seconds, but a foolish woman reinforcement came from the corner and shot at Pan. "Nooo!" Pan’s body tensed as the bullet went through her body right underneath her heart. "Pan! Pan are you alright? Pan!" Sansai ran to Pan’s falling body, and caught her just before she hit the ground. "Pan? You’ll be okay…don’t worry. Pan?" Sansai’s eyes watered, and Pan trembled with pain, her red blood poured over her shirt. Pan smiled weakly. "It’ll be okay, Sansai…" Pan closed her eyes, and was nearing death when Sansai carefully put Pan’s body on the ground and put her hands on her chest and stomach. Sansai cried out as she called for intense power, her hands glowed yellowish and she screamed, as the intense power was called and entered Pan’s bloody body. Pan’s injury healed slowly, but she was healing at least that count. Sansai then turned to the woman who shot her angrily. "You’ll pay for that! Out of all the things you could use to destroy a Saiyan…you used a GUN! A gun? You are pathetic for thinking you could kill her…pathetic!" Sansai then blasted the woman to oblivion and all that surrounded her including the masked robbers, then she picked up Pan’s body and glared at the police. "You better get out of here before I kill you too." "You have Vegeta’s temper." Replied a half-conscious Pan. "Pan! You’re okay?" Sansai smiled as Pan passed out, and she took her home.
