THE VIOLENT BREED

(la razza violenta)
1983 Fernando Di Leo Italy

Starring: Harrison Muller jr, Henry Silva, Woody Strode, Carole Andre, Danika, an elephant

my first expierence with Fernando Di Leo is total bottom of the barrel crap action, but in some masochistic way is still one of my favorites of his films.

starting out as a war picture, Muller, Silva and Strode, quite possibly the largest gathering of horrible actors in one scene, are members of a commando squad who are in the philippines to rescue a gaggle of kidnapped brats.

their mission involves lots of exploding oil drums, and unfortunately, Silva stands too close to one and gets hit with shrapnal. Strode digs it out for him then walks of into the jungle. days, months, years later (the time line's not very clear) Muller and Silva are CIA agents and Strode is a drug lord in the Golden Triangle.

Muller, wearing some way too tight white jeans, is sent to find him. Muller meanders around for awhile before finally heading to the whore house that supplies vagina to Strodes army. Strode catches wind of Muller's presance and next thing you know we have an action scene almost as long as the hospital scene in Hard Boiled.

this completely brain dead movie exists for no reason other than blowing up grass huts in slow motion, but for some reason is pretty damn entertaining. Harrison Muller, also in Texas Gladiators, despite being a big weiner, is likeable in a somewhat irritating way. top billed Silva and Stroode get next to zero screen time, and the film ends with a brain spasm inducingly strange manner.
