The snow fell in a thick sheet, and she watched it from her window. The fire in her room was a ablaze and she pulled her jumper tighter around herself. The castle was always cold this time of year. She was one of the only students remaining behind at Hogwarts for Christmas. A Gryffindors had stayed. The Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws had all returned home, opting to spend Christmas with their families.
Pansy sighed heavily and slowly turned and walked out of her warm dormitory, located in the Dungeons. She walked down three low stairs and opened the door that led to the common room. The door was enchanted to knock any male that entered more than five steps back out into the common room.
The fire in the common room gave the room a warm amber glow. The dungeons usually cold had been heated especially for the harsh winter nights. The Christmas tress situated in a large corner of the room stood tall, and proud. Tasteful decorations adorning it, that Pansy herself had had part in choosing.
Pansys gaze flickered over to the other two Slytherins remaining at Hogwarts. Blaise Zabini and Tracey Davis. She sighed and Blaise gently kissed Tracey, silently wishing she had someone to share Christmas with.
Those who believed her and Draco to be a couple were very much mistaken. They were merely friends. Close friends, who attended awful school balls with each other, to avoid the discomfort of going with a stranger. How she wished he had stayed this year
She silently turned around, and walked gracefully from the room.
- -
How she would have loved to spend Christmas at her home, with her parents and elder brother, Louis. It was a shame they felt it would be safer for her to stay at Hogwarts. Louis had already left Hogwarts, and he had left with their parents. They were holidaying in their French manor, away from Englandaway from Voldemort. The truth was, the Parkinson family wanted nothing to do with the war that was coming up. They didnt really care for blood, her parents. Neither did her brother. Pansy had guessed that spending too much time with Draco and his family out of term time had rubbed off on her. Without him around, she realised that she was too easily influenced by him. Shed have to work on that
She had walked out of the Dungeons and into the Entrance Hall. Decorations were everywhere, and she could hear a ghostly rendition of Silent Night floating in the air. A few of the castles ghosts came out of a wall and smiled at her in passing. Even the Gryffindor Ghost smiled merrily at her.
Merry Christmas my dear, He cried joyfully, following the Ravenclaw ghost through a wall. She smirked and shook her head, and approached the stairs, wondering is she would come across anyone. After all, she reasoned, who else would wander the castle on Christmas Eve?
She didnt know who had stayed, a few Gryffindors. She suspected Potter would, for safety reasons. All the Gryffindors would remain in the Gryffindor Tower, all snug and warm, celebrating together. Pansy turned a corner and walked up a dimly lit corridor, and came across another staircase. She stepped onto it and started to walk up it, and then stopped suddenly as the staircase decided to change. It came to a stop. Pansy walked up and came to a door. She opened the door and walked through, and then walking down the corridor. She passed portrait after portrait, who were celebrating the day.
As she rounded a corner and saw a long row of bookcases on both sides of the room she began to wonder where she wasshe didnt recognise this part of the castle. She ventured further into the corridor and noticed one door to her left. Curiosity got the better of her and she opened the door and walked through it.
- -
As she stepped through she could hear cheerful laughing and the chinking of glasses. She looked around the room she had walked into and frowned. She really didnt know where she was. She approached the large portrait, of a woman in a pink dress.
Excuse me She asked softly. The woman stopped laughing and looked at Pansy. Her eyes raked up the girls figure and she seemed to look at her with a confused expression.
Youre not a Gryffindor are you my dear? She slurred. Pansy smiled softly.
No, Im not. Im lost though, could you tell me where exactly I amIve never ventured this far in the castle, She said, her voice still soft.
Certainly! Youre in Gryffindor Tower, in front of the Gryffindor Common Room too!
Pansy paled quickly. She looked around. She was alone, and if any Gryffindors came out, shed be sure to get hexed. She backed away.
Are you quite alright dear? The fat lady asked, eyeing Pansy with a worried expression.
Fine, She squeaked. She started to step backwards, and turned around. Just as she started to the door, a low rumble burst through the room. Pansys eyes widened with alarm and she froze in her step.
She watched in horror as one of the bookcases started to move, shaking dust onto the ground, and slowly, it was pushed open. Pansys heart was pounding against her chest, and she watched in horror as Ronald Weasley came into view.
- -
Ron sighed as he pushed the bookcase forward, silently wondering how he and Harry could be the only Gryffindors staying behind this year. Harry had come down with a cold, and had gone to bed early, so Ron had gone for a wander around the castle. He had ended up in the Kitchens and spent the last two hours being stuffed with food by the house elves. Eventually he grew tired of that and had headed back to the common room.
There was about half an hour left before Christmas day, and that meant Ron could wake Harry very soon and open the pile of presents that were waiting for them. Ron only wished he had someone female to share it withwho wanted to be with him too.
He looked up and he had made a gap big enough to get through. He looked up and froze. Pansy Parkinson stood before himlooking like she was about to pass out. And sure enough, Pansys eyes fluttered shut and she crumble quickly to the ground. Ron, forgetting everything of House Rivalry reached her in time, scooping the girl in his arms.
He shifted her in his arms, and moved into a more comfortable position. The Fat Lady didnt seem to notice the scene of a Gryffindor holding a Slytherin in his arms, and continued to giggle and hiccup with Violet, a friend from another portrait.
Ron looked extremely uneasy as he looked around the roomand even contemplated leaving herbut thought better of it as he looked down at her face. He sucked in a breath. She really had changed. No longer as pug nosed as she had been, it was complimented by her soft features. She was actually, very pretty if you took a moment to look at her properly.
He was so focussed taking in her features, he didnt notice her eyes open slowly, and the sapphire gems focus on his face, taking in his features. Ron had longer hair than previous years, and had a gentle chiselled face, that looked extremely soft to touch. She had the mad urge to caress his faceand was very surprised when she found her self reaching up and gently tracing his face with her long fingers.
- -
Rons eyes widened when he felt the gentle caress on his cheek, and looked at her eyes, that were now open. He swallowedunsure of what to dohe had only ever insulted Pansy when she was with Malfoybut she had stopped doing that. The trio had seen her once or twice. But on the whole, they avoided each other famously.
Y-You fainted, Ron finally managed to stutter. Pansy nodded slowly, her fingers did not stop caressing his face. Ron was shocked to find it sent a tingling sensation throughout his body.
You scared me, She replied softly, and then smiled softly at him. I was lostand somehow, the staircases took me here, She tore her eyes away from him and gestured with her head, at the room.
Ron nodded.
The staircases do that, He mumbled, glancing at her lips. Was it him, or had it just got very suffocated in here? She looked back at him, and her gaze flickered to his mouth and then back up to his eyes.
Could you show me how to get back to my common room? She whispered, suddenly feeling very subconscious about their unusual closeness. Ron nodded. Still not moving.
Ill show you, He mumbled, as they both stared into the others blue eyes. Hers a deep blue mixed with grey. His a warm blue, with specs of green. A little snicker caught there attention, and Rons ears turned violent red, while Pansys pale cheeks turned pink. The Fat Lady and Violet were looking at the two with very mad grins.
Let me help you up Ron said quickly and stood up, and then offered his hand to Pansy. She took it, and let go of it just as she had, as a surge of electricity shot through her. She stared at him. He looked equally shocked. He offered it again and she quickly took it, ignoring the second shock. The two women in the portrait giggled at the two.
Ron quickly left the room, closely followed by a very flustered Pansy.
- -
They walked in an uncomfortable silence. Pansy trying to sort out her breathing and muddled thoughts. Ron trying desperately to fight off the urge to turn around and kiss her. The hurried down the staircase, eager to get away from the other. Finally they reached the Entrance Hall. They looked at each other, feeling very awkward, and unsure of the other. Once again, the air became very thickand Pansy and Ron were trying to breathe.
Wellert-thank y-you, Pansy stuttered, flushing pink.
It was no p-problem, Ron managed. Silence eloped them once again. Pansy tore her gaze away from him and looked down the hall, at the entrance to the dungeons.
I s-should be going She whispered. Ron nodded. He looked down the stairs tountil a loud cackle was heard. Peeves appeared above them.
OOH! Gryffindor and Slytherin romancing on the stairs! He screeched. Pansy winced and Ron rolled his eyes.
Shove off Peeves, He grumbled.
Did I ruin your little moment? Here let old Peeves help! He cackled and flew up to the decorations, pulling out what seemed to be a branch. The two students gasped when they saw he was holding mistletoe over their heads.
Kissy, kissy! Peeves screeched again.
Peev- Ron started, before Peeves cut him off.
Uh-uh, no, its tradition Weasel-bee! Pucker up for the pretty girl! Ron sighed again, about to shout for the Bloody Baron when he was silenced by Pansys lips on his. Peeves cackled and clapped madly.
Bravo! Bravo! He cried in glee.
Everything flew away from Ron, the fact that Peeves was there, the fact that he was kissing a Slytherin, that he shouldnt be doing this. All he was aware of was her lips, and her soft warm body as he pulled her to him, deepening the kiss.
- -
They pulled apart, both gasping for breath, Pansy looking at him with wide eyes, Ron with a face that clearly showed he was dazed.
Wow, He wheezed, gasping for air. Pansy took a deep breath and nodded. She looked up to find Peeves gone.
Why did you do that? Ron asked. Pansy gazed at him.
I-IIt got Peeves away didnt it? She lied as she looked at him.
- -
Ron nodded, not completely believing her reason as he looked into her eyes. He knew one thing, he wanted to kiss her again. He wanted to hold her close to him again. He looked at her, she was speaking, but he couldnt hear her. He could however, hear the thumping of his heart.
- -
I should really go She said weakly G-Goodnight Ron, She whispered and quickly turned around and hurried down the stairs.
- -
Ron suddenly saw her turn around and walk down the stair quicklyaway from him. He panicked. What should he dowhat would happen? She reached the bottom step and started to walk towards the dungeons.
Damn it all to hell! He whispered, making his rash decision and ran down the stairs, and after the dark haired Slytherin.
- -
Pansy! He yelled as she turned round the corner and started to walk toward the common room entrance. She carried on walking, telling herself to ignore him. Things were going to change if she didnt, and she was too scared to let that happen.
She felt a rough tug on her arm and she spun around quickly. Her eyes widened as he pulled her to him and wrapped an arm around her waist the other on the side of her face.
Merry Christmas, He whispered as he lowered his lips onto hers and closed his eyesPansys soon followed, knowing that these two kisses would change things forever.
