RISKS OF PARTICIPATING IN SOFTBALL WHILE PREGNANT.
Because softball is a physical and sometimes a
contact sport, all participants are advised that there may be risks involved to
their own health and the health of an unborn child by participating in
this sport while pregnant.
Any participant who is pregnant should:
· obtain expert medical advice about the risks involved in
participating in softball and whether and/or for how long it is safe to do so,
· consider discussing the implications of the pregnancy with coaches,
officials and administrators,
· take into account the changes in your physical condition,
· not increase the intensity of your sporting program while you are
pregnant, and always work at less than 75% of your maximum heart rate,
· watch for warning signs, such as bleeding or abdominal pain and see a
doctor immediately if these occur.
