| Match Report - Round 1 vs Sliders |
| Well another season has begun, yippee!!! I think we would all agree that the new grading system that placed the duel grand final winning mighty Freestylers in B-Reserve is an absolute winner. What a beautiful day to start a new season, great temperature and a nice gentle breeze had us all excited and just a little nervous as well. Diana (team captain in Stuart and Robs absence) appointed myself to take the toss and Ive got to tell you I was feeling pretty lucky right from the start. The toss was won and we decided to field. Lets try something new for the first game of the season eh!! Our first dig in the field was very tight. All opportunities that presented themselves were gobbled up and we had them at zip for their first innings. An easy catch in the outfield and a quick throw to second yielded the seasons first double play yeah good one that!!! So well done, pat yourselves on the back girls that was a great start. Now, time for a bat. A first glace, the pitcher looked a very formidable character with an exceptionally quick pace on her but to our credit we didnt panic and made her pitch out every ball. A couple of walks and a hit or two had us score 3 runs in the first innings. The next innings was pretty much the same, one or two for the Sliders and three runs for the good guys. Lets keep going girls; were in a good position now. Our patience with the bat proved very valuable indeed when Sliders decided to change pitchers. Now we were batting against a pace we are much more accustomed to and this resulted in a massive 7 run dig. Some great hits combined with excellent base running had us on top now. But we must remain focused to win the game. A couple of good hits to the outfield by the Sliders did result in a couple of runs here and there but our concentration remained and our fielding was working very well. Excellent pitching by Kristie backed up by solid fielding performances including a cracker of a catch in left field by Vanessa had us all on a high and there was simply no stopping us now!! Final score was 15-2. Excellent pitching by Kristie (including three caught and bowled) earned her the 3 points for the day. Well done, super effort that!! What a fantastic start to the new season. Cant help thinking that a special someone was looking down on us which ultimately gave us the extra confidence we needed. I believe thats what inspired such a magnificent result. Bless!!! See ya!
