News

(March 14/07) A couple of years ago my doctor told me that Huntington's Disease had taken the music out of me I was neither able to play it nor create it (Greg Frenzy).

I also wanted to say that I am very sorry to Brad Delp's (Singer of Boston)family and friends, he was a great singer and he will be truly missed as I was a big fan of Boston.

(July 21/03) I'm glad to be back and be the bearer of some great news. How many times have you wanted "Worship", "Shame", "Supplicate" and "LIVE" for sale only to find them not there? Well, Greg has put together a very nice compilation CD called "Bits and Pieces". This CD is officially released as of this writing and I'll quote Greg here. "Hi Jezz, Ya, the CD (Bits and Pieces) is a complitation of rare songs as well as just classic Frenzy songs that would have have only been found on older out of print material. It's got two songs from the CD that would have been "Ecstasy" as well as one song nobody has heard called "Don't You Know What It Means". That song is very rare and it features Corey on lead, Andrew on rhythm and Ritchie on drums with me on bass and vocals. That is a pre-Frenzy song in essence and it's really vibrant. I think this whole CD rocks and rolls nicely and I hope many others do as well."

(April 2/03) The interview we've all been waiting for is here. Cathy did a great job and her Interview with Greg is excellent. A must read! Jezz.

(Feb. 19/03) Great news here for all Frenzy fans! Cathy Watson has gotten one of our favourite Frenzy boy's to talk! She has arranged to meet with Greg in the very near future and has promised to get every bit of info she humanly can, extracted from him. Bravo Cathy and Viva Greg! The interview will be posted here on this site and nowhere else. Nice going again Cathy and Greg. Jezz.

(June 1/02) Original bass player for the band Kevin has payed us a nice visit on the Frenzy forum! He's using the name Sid, not to be confused with our friend Cid. I'm pleased he's there and hope he comes by often as he has a wealth of information for all fans of Frenzy. He did say he thought Corey was the best guitarist he'd ever played with and that both he and Corey are still close friends. It was even hinted by him to Kim that he'd be interested in working with both Greg and Corey at some time again. Very nice of him to drop by and he's what one would expect a member of Frenzy to be, a down to earth kind man. Jezz.

(April 12/02) Still no news from Greg about the new CD or even if he plans to record anything for that matter. I must say I'm a little dissapointed, when Greg and Corey work together it's a beautiful sound they produce. I tried prodding Greg for something...anything damn-it....all to no avail. I know he's been having some serious problems in the fall of 2001 and only hope that those problems haven't spilled over into his music. When I hear more I'll let you all know at once. Jezz.

Greg says new CD is on hold. (Oct. 29/01)
The new and highly anticipated Frenzy CD featuring both Corey and Greg back together again is on hold according to what Greg had to say. I was told that some songs were written for the CD but work stopped on it in mid summer. Greg says he can't say when he'll be recording with Corey at this point in time but did say that the CD when it is released will be pure magic.
I'd like to say hello to all of you once again, I'm back and I'm eager to keep you all updated on all things "Frenzy"! Jezz.

(Jan. 12/01):
The new CD entitled "The Tempest" is officially released! I've listened to it a few times and it's another hit from Greg. Be sure to order this amazing work by our well gifted Greg! Jezz.

(Oct. 30/2000):
Greg is well into recording of the new CD "The Tempest" and has given me a tentative release of mid December. He's already, according to him, recorded over 12 tracks in the last month. Corey has yet to appear on any of them. One new song I sent up to Riffage and RehearsalsCanada.com is "My Life My Love". Have a listen if you haven't already.
I've also finally figured out how to get the message board back up, so post away! :) Jezz.

Breaking News (Sept. 2000):
Greg has announced another Frenzy CD! He thanks all of you that purchased "Dionysus" and is as amazed at the sales of that CD.
The new CD, tentatively titled "Tempest" will be a concept work.
Greg did say that this CD is on the drawing board only and that he hasn't written a song yet for it although he does have several in the planning stage.
Stay Tuned.

Band History:

Frenzy started off as a 5 piece band in 1989 with Corey Frenzy doing the Lead Guitar and Greg on Vocals only. This band ultimately spontaneously dissolved in and around 1991 after having performed in and around the Toronto area for 2 years. The dissolution of the original band was due to typical in-band bickering. The bands break up came just as they were preparing a huge camaign to garner the recording industries attention.
The band is by no means just another hard rock band, in fact the extent of different music styles that have been written is very similar to Queen in that you get everything from them on a record, not just the hard stuff.
The origins of Frenzy came from years of jamming and performing with other people. Greg started playing guitar at age 16 and by age 19 he was a very competent guitarist, at the same time Corey picked up the guitar at age 10 (he's 6 years younger than Greg) trying to emulate his older brother, by the time he joined Frenzy he was as Greg would say "the best guitarist in the world". Greg would often jam with Corey and other drummers until Corey met a freind from school who played drums. This friend was Vouli. Corey and Vouli would jam to everything, particularily Van Halen and Rush ,"La Villa Strangiato" being an exercise to warm up for them. Throughout this timeline Greg was recording music and ultimately wound up jamming with Ritchie Rocket who played a very powerful style of drums, a friend of Vouli's whom Greg got along with very well. Greg also met Andrew at work and they soon found that they were very compatable players, Andrew was as Greg said a terrific Rhythm guitarist. Greg and Ritchie recorded a number of very popular Frenzy songs together.
Two lead guitarists, two drummers and one rhythm guitarist, where do we go from here?
One day in 1988 Greg who was playing lead guitar along with Ritchie on drums and Andrew on rhythm guitar decided he wanted a concrete band. Greg had experience as a vocalist but never to this day considers himself a singer sat down with Corey who by this time in his life was a master at the guitar. Corey was very fond of Ritchie Rocket but he primarily played with Vouli and was comfortable playing with him. They talked about who should play drums, Greg desperately wanting the Rocket and Corey refusing to play without Vouli. Corey won the debate and Vouli was the first member of Frenzy as drummer. The next member was Andrew on rhythm guitar as a proviso of letting Vouli play drums. Corey wanted to be the lone gunman but Greg wanted a fuller sound live. Of course Corey was the lead guitarist and Greg was the lead vocalist. Frenzy was born. Greg and Andrew in the early days would swap bass playing duties depending upon the song and finally Greg asked his friend Joey, to play the bass. Joey agreed and the full band was born. By around late 1988 they had their act down solid and it was at that time that Greg asked Joey to leave the band. It was a tough decision but it was the only way the band would be reliable and that was with a dedicted bassist. They auditioned various bass players until Kevin showed up. Corey and he got along famously and it was decided he would be the bands bassist. The band jammed with Kevin until they were ready to do what they do best. And that's how Frenzy was born.
