BACKGROUND

"An Idea can change your life". A thought, to provide some needy students with the scholarship for their studies, was emerged one afternoon while we were having lunch together. The cornerstone of the initiation of this idea was Mr. Augustine Thomas S.J. The moment he proposed the idea we all were astounded and vigorously started talking about it. Where there is a will there is of course a way. We all were not just surprised but excited and passionate to move the thought ahead. We met the very next week and on the day itself we collected Rs. 10,100 from among ourselves. Well, this was the very starting point of our small project.

Consequently, we have formed a group of seven to give a real form to this project. The seven members of the group will be addressed as the founder members.

Objectives

• Provide scholarship to the poor and intelligent children of Nepal.
• Help them stand on their feet.
• Encourage institutes to provide scholarship to the poors and intelligent.
• Begin literacy programs in the villages.
• Conduct short term seminars for school students on different topics such as personality development, value education etc.

Our aim

• Collecting money from among ourselves and from all those who can contribute.
• Contributing our time and our devotion for the upliftment and betterment of this project.
• Focus on the overall personality development of the students who are provided scholarship.

Roles of the Founder Members

Regular financial contribution to raise the fund.

Devote themselves in raising fund from people (still not an obligation)

Organise monthly meetings

Be in contact with active members and general members.

Keep informed about the activities to the general/ active members.

Arrange seminars/literacy programs.

implementation of the project, which are as follow;

• Be updated with all the activities going on.
• Contribute any amount of money on monthly, quarterly, six monthly or annually basis (or they can advice themselves on this point)

• Contribute their time to fulfill the aim of the project.

Roles of General Members

The regular monthly meeting would be focused on

• General greeting and sharing (as we will be meeting once or twice a month)
• Collection of the money (from the core, active or general members)
• Taking decisions and finalizing coming up ideas and concepts.
• Keep record of all the contributors and the amount of their contributions.
• Finalize venue for the next meeting.

Expected Outcome

There is no deadline of the project neither is there any hard and fast rules as such. However, we expect to meet all our objectives and goals from the very starting point. We expect more members to join us and help us to fulfill our dream of providing opportunity of education to as many poor and needy children of our country. This project has brought this group of friends on the same platform, we expect many people around the world to join us and to help our country a zone free from illiteracy.

Students Selection Criteria

• S/he will be of Primary/Lower Secondary Level, studying in government schools/out of schools.
• S/he must be from poor financial background. (The core group members will visit the his/her family, locality, school, etc.)
• S/he must have a great desire and potentiality to study well.

“The students will be selected by the end of the academic session.”

After the selection of the students

• Enroll him/her in a good school.
• Provide scholarship till the higher secondary level.
• Monitor and evaluate the performance regularly.
• Provide guidance if necessary.
• Provide him her stationery accessories if necessary.
