NIGHT

your cool darkness will wrap me
           with a silken embrace
all I need do is accept your terms
            to bow down before your power.

to never see or walk within
            the sun's blistering heat
and have the silver moon
            as my only lighting guide.

will you protect me against
            your dark minions,
sustain my life forever
            if I give you my soul?

is it worth it to be yours,
            a shadow of life?
I can become like you
            if you wish it so.

to join with you
            and forever leave the light,
is that what you wish,
            a single companion?

there are others, you know,
            that wish as I do.
for freedom from day's brightness,
            to walk with ease in your domain.

within your inky depths
            I am at peace.
nothing can bother me
             in the places where you rule.

take me with you.
             your terms are accepted.
I will live in darkness
             and despise the light.
