Top Picks of the summer
These are all the top picks from the summer past, somewhat outdated but still amusing so whatever.
Top songs of the summer
Boys of Summer - The Ataris Another french boy song. And a good end-of-summer type of song.
Calling You - Blue October A sweet song I fell in love with the first time I heard it. It reminds me, disturbingly, of stalking though.
Why Can't I - Liz Phair Song I associate with How to Deal, and a new favorite with me.
Brown Eyed Girl - Reel Big Fish A bar song. Reminds me of Shannon. Ok, so it's Shannon's french guy song, but I do like it as well.
Top flims of the summer
Pirates of the Carribean A good hearty comedy/adventure, the best kind. The movie is adventurous, witty, and well filmed. Johnny Depp was awesome in this movie, the best he's ever been, if you ask me. It's a little hard to get over Elf boy at first, but it works out in the end. And Kiera Knightly; it's nice to see her in a more prominent role. And besides, you can't go wrong with Disney.
How to Deal Classic Rom Com with a twist. A story based on love and growing up. I love this movie, it's based on my favorite novel, Someone Like You by Sarah Dessen. Mandy Moore did an excellent job, and Trent Ford, was totally Macon. I wasn't too happy with Scarlett's role in the movie though.
SWAT I can't believe how much I liked this movie! I hate all action movies [for the most part] and I didn't really see this one being any different. And yet, it was. Advised to see it by friends, Shannon and I tried it out. It was amazing. I even forgot I was watching actors, and not real SWAT members. And, as Diane said after she watched it, I'm definetly now a big fan of Colin Farell.
Down With Love Coming out a little before summer, it's still an excellent movie that I can't pass up. Starring Ewan McGregor and Renee Zelewegger, this movie is set in the 60's, using the basic Rock Hudson and Doris Day type of characters, and it blew me away. It all looks so authentic, it's hard to think of it as made in 2003. And yay for the sexual innuendos!
Top books of the summer
Keeping the Moon by Sarah Dessen I just got this novel this summer, and finished it a few days ago. It was awesome, a real inspirational story. I loved it, i picked it up and started it again once I finished, until I got to about page 20, and told myself it's ok, put the book down... Sarah Dessen is really good at writing, I love all her creations.
Brightly Burning, by Mercedes Lackey This one I'm halfway done and I really love it. It goes with me everywhere. I love Mercedes Lackey's work and this piece is fascinating.
The Farseer trilogy, by Robin Hobb Read these three over most of the summer [Assassin's Apprentice, Royal Assassin, Assassin's Quest], and I really liked them. I want a wolf... I love how they were about assassination, not another typical fairylike fantasy series. Can't wait to start The Tawny Man trilogy!
Top Drinks of the Summer
Space Blast Notably now space gin. It's a very good blue slush type of deal found at Boston Pizza. I tried it on my birthday and really liked it.
