| Birch tree we met under a birch tree our eyes drawn like fire and we knew our games of climbing would never ever tire we grew up under that birch tree My hand safely tucked in yours when white t-shirts and dirty jeans were all we ever wore Before the times of teenage thoughts And pressure from our peers To move past childhood sweethearts And wipe away our tears when you liked cake and all i thought was 'mother always screams' When daddy came to rescue me From spiders and bad dreams when our lives revolved around each other and you only thought of me when we spent our days together under that beautiful birch tree but now we've both grown older and you'll be leaving soon for college and career plans and for me there is no room i sit here now and ponder over where i lost your part when it stopped being about our climbing and our childhood fell apart i'll always have my memories of times that used to be when we were so inseperable lost up in that birch tree |
