| Moulin Rouge! Trailer "Moulin Rouge! is a celebration of truth, beauty, freedom, but above all things, love - set in the infamous, gaudy and glamorous Paris nightclub, circa 1900. Director Baz Luhrmann brings together gorgeous period design and modern-era pop tunes to create a unique comic/tragic motion picture experience. Nicole Kidman portrays Satine, the Sparkling Diamond, star of the Moulin Rouge and the city's most famous courtesan. Satine is caught between the love of a young writer and another man's obsession. Ewan McGregor is the writer, Christian, who finds himself plunged into this decadent world where anything goes - except for falling in love." |

Candace Also featuring: Sarah, Patrick, Kelsey, Carly, and introducing Stuff This is a story about love... ok, so she spoofed Moulin Rouge!. I never said the story was original; I mean, it says so in the title. But it's awesome. Hehe. |

| What I have to say: The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return |

| Moulin Rouge! is a favorite movie of mine, and for many reasons. Firstly, this great movie speaks of love, love overcoming all obstacles. And it shows; Nicole and Ewan portray the love story spectacularily. Secondly, it's a musical, and both actors have wonderful voices, especially together. Also, this movie is a feast for the eyes, from the elephant to the nightclub to shots of Paris to the dance sequences. And since I'm a sap and I absolutely adore romances (as long as they're not so sappy as to be unbelievable), I can't help but love this movie. Besides, the music rocks. And so does the set. And the actors sizzle. I couldn't believe they had found so many convincing characters. And the plot rules. I just love it all. It's just a cool movie, ok? The only crappy thing is the alternative ending... *gasp* imagine having Christian kill himself at the end?! Right after he left the play too! I don't think so! Oh, and also, the diamond necklace is cool. I know, I know, I'm obsessed, and it shows: I have to do a personal project for my France trip, and I chose to do Montmartre, and I had fun doing it. Yep. Moulin Rouge! is the first movie that I saw Ewan in. Therefore it's special. Ok, that's not true, I saw him in ALLO first, but I didn't know who he was or anything. I think that Christian is Ewan's most celebrated role, because so much of him shines through; he sings, he dances, he's a romantic. I want a guy like that :> |

| For Movement class, my friend Steff and I performed Elephant Love Medley, and I never had that much fun in a class before! She was Christian, and I was Satine, and it was awesome; my hair was actually long and red, and hers was short, dark, and spiky. I wore a red dress, and she had a dress jacket on. It was so much fun. We choreographed it, and it bears a little ressemblance to the actual Elephant scene. Only one thing would have made it perfect, as Steff says; we lacked a pole. It was the only thing we wanted to add in. But considering it would be kind of useless if we screwed in a pole in the middle of a drama stage, we restrained ourselves, and just took the pole part out. Sniffle. Besides, I'm sure our teacher wouldn't have let us. Anyway, we had the best time acting one of our favorite scenes out anyway. It was certainly the highlight of Movement class for me. Having an awesome time with your friend while acting and putting it on for other people, and getting credits and being marked for it - what's better than that? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Some interesting things: The real moulin rouge Some facts about the real moulin rouge.. I already knew most of these, but now everyone else can know as well. Things for my research project! Pictorial This is a really cool page on one of my favorite MR pages. It's a pictorial of the story, and although it's not done, it's quite good. Midnight at the Moulin Rouge This site is amazing! It has the most outstanding story, by Elisabeth Bathory. It's a sequel, persay, to Moulin Rouge!, and it has her thoughts to what happened after death. I found it very good, and read it all in one sitting [big feat for me]. If you enjoy MR, and fiction, read it! The Duke This is on the Club Moulin Rouge site, and it's an episode from Toulouse Tonight; this clip has the Duke, and at the end, it has this cute clip of Ewan running away from the camera. I love it so much, that I decided to link to it. Christian This is the next episode, and it's of Ewan!!! Good stuff. Also features the Duke drinking Absinthe. The Elephant This is a clip of the making and using the beautiful indian based elephant found in the movie. Then, of course, the destruction. Emyn Muil Love Medley Speaking of elephants.. this is a spoof from the elephant love medley, with Sam and Frodo from Lord of the Rings. It amused me, ok? Facts: The necklace worn by Nicole Kidman was made of real diamonds and platinum and was the most expensive piece of jewelry ever specifically made for a film. The Stefano Canturi necklace was made with 1,308 diamonds, weighing a total of 134 carats, and was worth an estimated US$1 million. The wardrobe department created three hundred costumes and, at one point, eighty people were employed for this task. The large red 'L'amour' sign seen on Christian's building was part of the set of Baz Luhrmann's production of 'La Boheme' for the Australian Opera. It also appeared in Romeo & Juliet (1996). Come What May, the only original music piece, was originally written for Baz Luhrmann's Romeo and Juliet, but it was never used. Therefore, Baz used it in Moulin Rouge!. I just thought those facts were cool. Especially the necklace one. |
