| Welcome To My Life: Chapter Seven Four Heads Are Better Than One
It was going on eight oclock at night, when Stephanie and Mike got home from work. Light fog had started to set in with some rain showers now and then. Most of my day had been working on the computer and watching mom, since she had gone to lye down. Mom was still lying down when they came through the door carrying bags of groceries. Hey Steph and Mike. Need any help? I asked. Mike grinned from ear to ear and dropped the bags he was carrying into my arms. I would have lost my balance and fell if it wasnt for the islander catching me. Yeah you can help by putting these away for me, he answered. Stephanie glared at him then looked over at me. So Punkin what brings you out this way? she questioned. I shrugged, sat the bags down on the counter and replied, Oh the usual. A strange call from a lawyer I never heard of or meet about a will I know nothing about. They both stopped what they were doing and just stared at me. I grabbed a bag of can food and went into the pantry. They followed not to far behind and cornered me in the back part of the pantry where I had no way to escape. All right Punk spill it, Mike commanded. So I told them the whole story and after I had finished, Steph just stood there saying nothing while Mike was ranting like a wild man. I made the mistake and ask the wrong question, So should I ask mom about it. Mike turned and yelled, Oh hell no. This stays between us. Moms got enough to deal with. Dont tell me what? came a voice from behind us. We all jumped and I dropped the bag of cans, which fell on Stephanies feet. She let out a loud screech and turned around to find mom standing in the doorway of the pantry glaring at us. She knew us to well and knew were up to something. Hi mom, your up, I said. Dont give me that lard of crap. You three are up to something, she stated. No were not, we said in unison. Humph, was all she did and left the room to go back into the kitchen. I smacked Mike and scolded through my teeth, Nice going Mike. The people in Hong Kong didnt hear you. Bite Me, he bit back. Stephanie got between us and stated coldly, Thats enough from the both of you. We have bigger problems. I stuck my tongue out at Mike and he flipped me off. Stephanie just rolled her eyes and asked, So what are we going to do? I started picking up the cans, while answering her at the same time, I guess Ill have to keep this to myself and go see what he wants. Mike squatted as if he was going to help and said, Oh no your not. Youre not going to meet that lawyer without backup. Only God knows what hes up to. Steph and I are both off tomorrow. Well go with you. Thanks Mike but the meeting is at three oclock. Youre not a day person when youre off. You tend to sleep until late in the afternoon, I stated. Stephanie snorted and Mike glared up at her. She gave him her biggest smile, he did a double glare then looked back at me and remarked, Im going and thats final. I threw my hands up in defeat and replied, Fine Im not going to argue but just to let you know, Chris is going to be there as well. Mike swelled with pride and commented, Good four head are better than one. Dont you mean two heads are better than one, Steph said with a smile. I had to cough into my hand to keep from laughing. Mike reached out and bit her on the leg. She let out a scream then smacked him on the head and went screaming to mom. I rolled my eyes and Mike must of seen it cause he pushed me over causing me to fall against the refrigerator. I picked up a can and threw it at him and missed. He went running out into the kitchen laughing, then two seconds later popped his head back in and stated, Besides if that lawyer tries anything with you tomorrow. Chris and I can hold him down and beat the crap out of him. I snorted and thought to myself, Oh great now Ive got two psycho maniacs watching my back. He disappeared, while I picked the cans off the floor and put them away. |
