Julius Magnus stood on the sidewalk staring opened mouth after a red haired woman. She had run into him as he was coming out of the caf. As he looked at her, he saw someone from his past come back to haunt him. He felt the sparks and saw her reaction towards him. She had frozen in fear then ran for her life.
It couldnt be Melinda Ann Douglass. She was supposed to be dead. The Bulgarian government had told him she died in an accident in the mountains. However, there was one problem. Her body couldnt be found. Melinda had gone to Bulgaria against his protest in search of a lost ancient artifact. Julius knew that in the wrong hands the staff of earth could be deadly.
The woman had a strong likeness to Melinda and he wouldnt stop at anything until he found out for sure. Once the shock faded and her back disappeared around the corner, he pulled out his cell phone and dialed a number. The streets were almost empty so he didnt have to worry about anyone over hearing the phone call.
Hello, said a voice on the other end.
Trevor its me, Julius, he stated.
Julius heard Trevor snort before saying, Whats Up?
Thats exactly why I called you, Julius replied.
You remember Melinda Ann Douglass? He asked.
There was silence on the other end before Trevor answered, Yeah. Why?
Because either I saw a ghost or shes got a twin. I just ran into a woman who looked a hell of a lot like her, commented Julius.
Dude thats impossible. Shes dead, stated Trevor.
Julius kept having flashbacks of the womans face and answered. So the Bulgarian government says. Her body wasnt found remember and this woman was an exact duplicate of her.
Damn, youre serious about this arent you? Asked Trevor.
Yes I am. Thats why I need you to do me a huge favor, said Julius.
Sure what you need me to do? Questioned Trevor.
Julius sighed and looked behind him to where she had run to. He knew deep down in his soul that Melinda was still alive and he believed that woman held the answer to finding her.
He believed that when Melinda went after the staff she was attacked by something or someone, than disappeared, as if she didnt exist. To find out who was behind it he needed help from the best in the investigation business. Thats where Trevor came in.
Yo Dude. You still there? Came a voice. It was Trevor yelling at him trying to get his attention.
Yeah Im still here, he answered back.
He heard Trevor clicking his tongue against his cheek in annoyance.
Trevor finally replied, Well if youre still with me. What is it you want? Im a very busy man.
Julius rolled his eyes and stated, The only thing youre busy with is that blonde you picked up last night at Pullmans bar.

There was silence on the other end for a few moments and Julius had to smile at himself.
Trevor finally found his voice and pleaded, Please dont tell Cell about this. Shell kill me.
Julius grinned into the phone and commented, Oh she wont hear it from me. You can dig your own grave all by yourself.
Trevor cursed under his breath and questioned, So whats the favor you want from me?
Here it goes Julius thought before answering, I need you to get all the information on Melindas so called death and every record you can find on the crime scene. I believe the government is hiding something.
Wow dude. Thats going to be impossible. The area she was last seen in was clean of any evidence of her being there. Theres also no trace of what happened to her, stated Trevor.
Julius closed his eyes and pinched his nose with his fingers before saying, Im aware of that Trevor thats why I called you in. If anyone can find something out of the ordinary, its you. Besides theres something not right about all this.
So you dont think shes dead? Trevor asked.
For the last time Trevor. No I dont think shes dead, Julius snapped.
Ok Julius. Calm your horses, you dont need to snap. I was only making sure youre thinking with a clear head and not some obsession you have over your dead girlfriend, stated Trevor.
Trevor heard Julius sigh before stating, Im sorry Trevor but something isnt right about all this and things just dont add up.
I know man, but its been a year since her disappearance. If she wasnt dead, why havent we heard from her? asked Trevor.
Julius shrugged and stated, Maybe shes in a position where she cant contact us. Maybe shes being stalked or is in hiding until the right moment presents itself. Whatever the case may be, I know shes not dead and will not stop until I find her and Im going to need your help if Im going to succeed in this matter.
Trevor closed his eyes knowing it was no use arguing with Julius. When hed made up his mind to do something. He stuck to it like glue.
All right then you can count me in. Ill get on it right away, commented Trevor.
Thanks Trevor. Ill keep in touch, Julius replied.
They both hung up their phones and Julius began to walk back to his small apartment over looking the park. He was going to find out what really happened if it was the last thing he did. He knew something or someone was responsible for Melindas disappearance and all evidence pointed directly to The Hand.
