| Title: Nature's Disaster Pt 1; An unknown force.
Disclaimer: I own nothing, not even me. Just a little piece for you enjoyment. Warning: A few good bad words. Have you ever had one of those weeks when nothing seems to go right? Well I've had one of those weeks and it got worse as the days went by. I'm in combat mode tonight, training for the fight that lays ahead. Let me tell you how it all got started. Sunday night I was getting ready for work, when Tamara dropped by for a visit. When I spoke to her earlier, she told me she has some news, that may or may not affect me, naturally my curiosity was peaked. We sat at the table in my kitchen over a warm cup of tea and without warning she dropped the bomb. "Crystal, I'm pregnant," Tam said. I spat tea all over the table, then just looked at her. "You're joking right?" I asked. She looked at me with seriousness in her eyes. "No, I'm not," she replied. "So who's the father?" I asked, knowing that she's been sleeping with Jean-Claude along with Asher. She didn't lie about who the father was. She came right out and said, "It's Jean-Claude's "Are you sure?" I asked. Tam glared at me like I didn't believe her, "Yes I'm positive it's his." I know it sounds like I'm interrogating her, but it's the agent in me, that's making me act this way. "Does Anita know?" I questioned. "Yes she knows about the baby. I've even talked with her. She's also said she was no longer talking to or seeing Jean-Claude anymore," Tam stated a matter of factly. We sat for some time talking about the issue and how it will affect everyone, when the grandfather clock on the wall started to chime. I glance up at the time and realized I was going to be late for work. "Tam I hate to cut this short but I have to go," I said. "That's ok. I've to get back to before Asher and Gigs notice that I'm gone," she replied. I walked through to the living room and towards the door, picking up my briefcase on the way. Tam and I said our far wells at the door leaving the house in different directions. I arrived at work a quarter past nine and my boss was nowhere to be seen. I was still in a state of shock and didn't want to have a run in with him just yet. I sat down at my desk and opened the case that I was working on. I tried to concentrate on the details, but couldn't get my mind to function. As it turned out the situation did affect me, especially where Richard was concerned. I know that Anita and him had a history together, but losing him would be hard on me. I've lost so many people that I loved already, couldn't handle losing another one. I was supposed to be concentrating on work, trying to find details, among the pictures of dead children, that will help me find their killer, but I couldn't concentrate on work. I had to much on my mind, to do anything else. My boss Adam walks in with two cups of coffee, one in each hand. He handed one to me, as he was sitting down on top of my desk. "Something wrong, Hilton? You look a little out of it tonight," He asked. I glanced up from the computer screen to look at him. "I can't concentrate tonight Adam. I have a lot on my mind," I told him. He glared at me and said, "I hate to be a prune, but you need to get back to work and leave your personal life at the door. You're my best agent and if you can't concentrate on work, do to outside interference, then we can't catch our man... "Then another child will be dead before we can find him." I finished for him. "I know I know. You've given me this speech before." I said, rolling my eyes. He smiled at me and I returned it with one of my own. I was about to turn back to the files, when a disturbance in the plains caught my attention. I looked around Adam just in time to see something dissapear. The next thing I knew a sharp pain shot through my head. I grabbed for my temples and nearly fell out of my chair. Adam grabs a hold of me before I could fall out of the chair. He sits me back up straight and asked, "Are you all right?" "I'm not sure," I said, right before a bolt of lightning shot through my entire body, sending me to the floor on my hands and knees screaming. I was getting sick to my stomach and began throwing up. The fluids that were coming up started to scared me. Blood was coming out of my mouth, then started coming out of my nose. I felt the unknown force push against my insides. My blouse became soaked with something wet and sticky, so I reached up with one hand to touch my front, coming away with a blood soaked hand. I heard Adam yell, "Someone call an ambulance," while he was trying to find the first aid kit. He finally found it and came back to kneel beside me. He started unwrapping gauze and applying them to my wounds, trying to stop the blood flow. The blood loss was so severe, that I collapsing to the floor. I was barely holding on to the light, but soon total darkness clouded my vision. The last thing I remember before passing out was Adam screaming, "Crystal, Crystal stay with me. Bradley get your ass in here." I woke up sometime later to find myself in a hospital room, hooked up to those annoying machines. One of my best friends, whose been there for me through thick and thin, was typing quick and fast on a laptop, while watching me over the top of the screen. Tamika was an African born native, with hair done in the same style as Scary from the Spice Girls. She was wearing faded blue jeans, a white spaghetti strap shirt, and a pair of brown sandals. She took her gaze off of me and dropped it towards the screen. She didn't notice I was awake until the bed started to move. She looked up, saw me trying to raise the bed and smiled. "Hey there chicky. Glad to see you've decided to come back to the land of the living." "Thanks. Mind giving me a hand," I asked. "Sure no problem," she said, while starting to clap her hands together. I just shook my head and smiled, "You've been around me way to long." "I know, you have a habit of rubbing off on people," she retorted with a smile. She came over and helped me adjust the bed into a comfortable position, before going back to her chair and laptop. "How long have I been in here," I inquired, while wondering what she's doing. "Oh about twenty-four hours. You almost died on the operating table. They had trouble keeping your heart going, while they were doing the blood transfusion," she stated, glancing at me worriedly. "I'm surprise they could keep it going at all, with all the electricity that was surging through me at the time. It was enough to kill a normal person," I commented. "Looks like death finally caught up with Brimestone," she mumbled under her breath. I glared at her for a few, then asked, "What's that suppose to mean?" She got up and walked towards the window. Tamika stared out into the sky like she was expecting it to rain, before answering, "Your father believes Brimestone was killed in a war among the packs in Londan. He's not sure, so he went to Europe to find out. He will be meeting with your grandfather to discuss it and why all of a sudden a new pack shows up in Londan," she answered with her back still to me. "Oh how lovely," I said sarcastically. I glimpsed around my room to find it was the same as all the other rooms. Plain white walls, metal bed with white sheets, small sink, and a door that leads to a small bathroom. I noticed that Jade was missing, she was my other best friend, and also has been with me through thick and thin. She was a tough cookie when need to be. She was raised in China part of her life, then in Paris the last 10 years. She was part Chinese, her father was an American business man and her mother was a Chinese woman, whose family owned of a huge software company. I turned back toward Tamika and asked, "Where's Jade?" Tamika left the window and went to set back down in the chair beside the door. "She went to see Anita. Then I think she had a date with Shang-Da," she commented. "What did she want to see Anita for?" I asked. "To let her know that you were doing fine, but still out of it," She remarked. "Couldn't she have used a phone?" I replied coldly. "That's what I told her, but she said it was on her way to see her stud muffin, so she was going to stop by real quick and let her know." Tamika inclined while batting her eyes. I had to laugh, it was so funny the way she wasn't imitating Jade, when it came to men. She went back to the laptop and the IM was going off like crazy. I was curious as to who she was talking to. "So what are you doing and who are you talking to?" I asked. She glanced over the top of the computer at me and replied, "Besides babysitting you. I'm trying to find a dress, that will stop Jamil in his tracks, for our date this Friday." My eyebrows went up and she smiled at me from across the room. "Ok. That answers that question. Now answer my other one. Whom are you talking to?" I questioned. "Your friend Tamara. I was letting her in on what was going on. I told her if she thought the others would want to know what has happened. She could tell them, that you would want them to know," she stated coldly. "Now you don't have to sound so mean. They are my friends to, you know," I told her. "I know, but something doesn't set right with me about all this," she sounded confused. "You think the council's involved with my accident, don't you?" I asked. She shook her head yes and I wished that this bed wasn't keeping me down. I wanted to give her reassurance that everything will be all right. I made a decision to try get up out of bed and go talk to Tam. "I want to talk to Tam," I said, after getting half way out of bed. Tamika glanced up and frecked, "Oh no you don't. Get your butt back in that bed until the doctor comes in." "But I want to talk to Tam," I said glaring at her. "I'll tell her what you want to say to her, but you are to get back into that bed," she commanded pointing her finger at me. I did as she told me and climbed back onto my little cot. I communicated with Tam through Tamika. She told me to behave myself and stay in bed or she was telling Richard. Tamika informed me that Richard does not know I was in the hospital after a near death experience. Anita, Jade, and her believed it was best for him not to know right yet. He's got enough do deal with, than worry about me. So I listened to them both and stayed in bed. The doctor came in later that night to examine me and was happy to see I was doing much better. He didn't want me to move around much, that I needed my rest, so he gave me something to help me sleep. Tamika said, "Good idea doc. She needs her rest." I glared at her and hoped she could feel my daggers. "You might be going home tomorrow, depending on how your feeling, so try and get some rest," He said. He bide us goodnight and left. No sooner had the doctor left Jade came flying into the room, slamming the door shut, while throwing her body up against it at the same time. She was panting really hard, like she had just finished a marathon. We both stared at her, while she was trying to catch her breath. My bladder took that moment to tell me, it wanted to be released. "Tamika, can you help me to the bathroom?" I asked. "Sure," she said still eyeing Jade, wondering what her problem was. Tamika walked beside me as I made my way into the bathroom. Once she was assured I was going to be ok, she went back out to deal with Jade. At this time I heard not just Tamika's and Jade's voice, but another one was added to the mix. It sounded like Tam's. I was sitting on the toilet, listening to what was being said through the door. "Is she ok?" I heard Tam ask Tamika. "I don't know, but we're going to find out," she answered. "Jade, sweety what's wrong and why aren't you with Shang-Da?" she asked her. "He canceled our date, because Richard called for a pack meeting at the last minute. He came by Anita's office to let her know, since she's bolverk and sometimes lupa, about the last minute meeting," she was saying very fast. "Honey please slow down. We can't understand a word your saying," Tam said. "Ok, let me make a long story short then. Richard overheard me tell Anita about Crystal. We didn't know he was standing at the door, until she opened it to walk me out. He didn't look happy about it either. We both knew he heard, so Anita grabbed him by his shirt and pulled him into the office. It gave me a head start, so I could get back to warn you that he followed me even though I tried to lose him," She preceded, running her words together very fast. |
